US Ambassador in South Korea Gets His Face Slashed With Knife

Mark Lippert, the United States' ambassador to South Korea, was slashed in the face with a blade during a lecture in a public forum early on Thursday morning in Seoul, the State Department announced.

The State Department said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Pictures released on South Korean media showed Lippert bleeding and covering his face.

"We strongly condemn this act of violence," State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said in a statement. President Barack Obama also called Lippert to wish him a speedy recovery, Reuters reported.

Good grief! Poor guy. That would be such a shock to the system. But from the sounds of it, the man who did it was interested in seeing Korea being free of outside interference.
The article doesn't make it clear though if he was North Korean or South Korean. Whichever the case, this violence is unacceptable.
