US Diplomat and Russian Police Officer Fight. Tit For Tat Expulsions

I found the video of the embassy door and boy, that guard sure tackles the guy! But other than the visuals, it's not giving any idea on the background story and I'm sure there was one.

Russia also warned journalists two weeks ago, that they are not telling the real story about the buildup of troops and the feelings of being threatened that it's causing Russia. I think it goes without saying that if Russia was doing that on American or Canadian borders, we'd be feeling like we're being set up for a possible attack too. And he's right, I'm not hearing our CBC or CTV say anything about the truth of what is going on in the Baltics.

On one hand the Russian guard was doing his job asking for ID. The diplomat should know better. But did the diplomat really try to 'sneak' in?

They said things changed after 2014 after Russia seized Crimea from the Ukraine. There is also harassment of diplomats in town frequently stopping them, some say to make sure they miss flights.

WhatInThe, Russia didn't seize Crimea. Crimea voted democratically to return to Russia and there were outside observers there who saw no pressure from Russia. And since then, there have been a couple of delegations from other European countries who talked to the locals and found that they were very pleased with their decision. Keep in mind that right after it happened, Ukraine cut off power to Crimea, I think maybe also access via their roads and Russia went in and replaced aging infrastructure and completed a bridge to reopen access. Also there was an increase in pensions for seniors and a few other improvements. So the spin that Russia 'seized' the area is inaccurate as they 'accepted' Crimea's request to return.

It should also be noted that when the Donetsk and Luhansk region floated the idea of their return to Russia also, it was refused by Russia. So if Russia were as intent on reigniting the old Soviet custom of taking over regions as 'NATO' would have you believe, it would seem to me, that they had an opportunity to begin the process right there....but it didn't happen.
