US Doctors see rise in vasectomies following end of Roe V. Wade

It seems as though abortion was being used as a form of birth control. Do women really prefer to subject themselves to an operation rather than use a condom?

No, women do not prefer it but men do not like to use a condom. I would have said no condom, no sex. Even a condom is not a fail safe but at least offers some protection. Many who find themselves in this predicament can't afford to buy condoms. They don't know they can get them free at many government sponsored locations or chose not to take advantage of the service. I do not understand why men or women chose to take a chance. The person who pays the price is the unwanted child. That is the heartbreak.

I'm glad to hear it, personally. That procedure is far simpler, safer, and even potentially reversible. It certainly beats all the body-injuring methods women have endured forever.

Women do not want abortions but men refuse to wear a condom. If a man cares about you and your health he will wear one. No condom, no sex was the same for me in my younger days.

It is being used as birth control in NZ, it was made legal some years ago, and with a change in the laws it has become very easy to have one.

Are birth control pills no longer available? While this is way past my time, as a female, I would have wanted to be in control of whether I'd get pregnant.

Some people are just irresponsible and they're the last people you want bringing children into this world, but that's what's going to happen if they can't get an abortion. Abortion would be the responsible thing for them to do.

So far, I believe birth control pills are still an option. But men's prophylactic's are still a good idea - to reduce the chance of sexually transmitted diseases and help assure efficacy of birth control measures. There is much doubt about whether the 'morning after' pills will still be available - and banning those would be a terrible idea, in my opinion.

To answer your question @Devi Yes, birth control is still available, for the moment, and so is Plan B better known as "the morning after pill".

Overturning Roe V. Wade: Here’s How It Could Threaten Birth Control Access by Alison Durkee, Forbes Staff - June 24, 2022 / Updated Jun 29, 2022 > https://www.forbes.com/sites/alison...hreaten-birth-control-access/?sh=2a0edd086b28

Except from the article below. I'm not going to post the article in it's entirety because that would be going too far over the "no politics" line. Not that it hasn't been crossed over by leaps and bounds before!

"The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade Friday and gave states license to ban abortion—increasing the likelihood that many contraception methods like birth control pills and Plan B could be targeted next, which some lawmakers have already suggested they want to do.

Key Facts

The Supreme Court overturned Roe entirely on Friday, ruling the 1973 decision was “egregiously wrong” and there is no federal protection to abortion under the Fourteenth Amendment, which declares states can’t deprive people of “life, liberty or property, without due process of law.”

The court specified in its ruling that the decision only applied to abortion and not to other precedents, but experts have nevertheless projected overturning Roe could threaten the court’s 1965 ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut, which established the right to privacy and legalized birth control (for married couples only at the time), since it was based on similar legal grounds."

There's more about who said what, but you'll have to read the article.
