US TV commercials!

I find myself turning the volume off on most of them or checking the weather channel for updates when they're on.

I agree many are off target or just "correct". I don't care for national animal groups asking for money. I support my local shelters or food pantries w/animal food because I know where & who is getting the help.

Lume commercials are just plain stupid ... just take a show folks if you smell that bad! Or go to a doctor to see what's wrong.

Now I do enjoy the Chewy commercials. I'm stuck between Giorgio & Ralph with the peanut butter box or the Scottish Fold who feels accomplished with her order.
Love the Chewy commercials and almost any commercial with a dog.

Some commercials are actually fairly clever, but lose that effect through mind-numbing repetition. I really don’t care to know all of the body parts on which the Lume lady uses the product, and the notorious “bent carrot” commercial has got to have caused embarrassing convos between parents and children. I don’t wish to know how absorbent feminine hygiene pads are, either. It’s all part of the progressive vulgarization of culture.

I‘ve taken to recording the shows I actually watch so as to fast-forward through commercials, which can occupy up to a quarter of a show’s length. I also keep a tablet handy so as to better occupy myself when caught by commercial breaks… 😼

Sorry, didn't see that this commercial was already posted! I'm only on my first cup of coffee this morning...not really awake yet I guess!

I totally dislike commercials, I don’t care who is in them. I find them to be a disruption to the program I was watching.

We don’t get those Luke commercials here so I googled one. Unless she’s been paid a fortune for doing them, I feel this woman will never live this down and her acting career is over.

Jules, assuming you meant Lume, I think she's actually the woman who "invented" the smelly stuff. I say smelly, because I read reviews on the product and the complaints about the nasty smell is abundant! But like you say, if she ever wanted to be an actress, all I can say to her is, don't quit your day job! And the stuff is so expensive she doesn't need to be paid for doing the commercials. I've seen it advertised for over $17.00.

Your better off to put your money aside instead of paying companies for warranties. We had a policy for about 6 months ($20/year) from State Farm for a homeowner warranty. Should have canceled at the beginning when they said they had no printout that showed the details. In that first 6 months, they refused to pay for a furnace repair.

I've noticed that the vulgar Jackson Hewitt commercial (what the buck!) has been taken off the air and replaced with a more ordinary type commercial for their tax prep service. I can't believe they actually thought that people would respond favorably to that offensive play on words. I saw complaints about that commercial on several different consumer websites.

For those who never saw it, here it is:

99.99% of the commercials are junk watching these days. Remember years ago, a friend brought their
little kiddo to our house. He started acting up and she slid a tape into our player and up came a host of commercials. The kiddo sat right down, glued to the TV and behaved through all of them.

Couldn't do that today could we. The kiddos know what's cool.

Is it just me, or are the majority of broadcast TV commercials intended for the elderly? All about medications, ad nauseum.

Heck, if I wasn't sick or impaired prior to seeing the commercial, I sure think I should be by the end of the evening barrage of commercials. It gets even worse if you close your eyes to all the happy smiling people depicted and actually listen to the side effects of the medication. Heck, listening to the side effects, I'd rather take my chances at being sick.

PBS/Houston Public Media featuring Masterpiece Theatre has the right approach. Supposedly they don't feature advertisements, instead featuring 'contributors'. At any rate, they run them at the beginning and the ending of the show. That at least allows for uninterrupted viewing.

I think of commercials as an intermission to go to the kitchen. Not one of them make me want to buy their product and if anything, I wouldn't buy it.

The only decent ones are the Chewy commercials.
