At least 2,000 cattle deaths blamed on triple-digit temperatures​

"A heat wave that gripped a large swath of the country brought discomfort for many, including the cattle in one U.S. state, where thousands died because of heat stress earlier this week."

I debated about posting this under the COW thread, but it is too depressing.

I hope the poor animals had shade and plenty of water to drink.
Sadly, they died of heat stress and dehydration - I'm sure the ranchers did their best, but there is only so much that can be done with extreme heat and water shortages. I just hate to think of their suffering.

I hated seeing this. They'd be suffering in the end anyway where they would eventually go.
That is extremely quick, though I doubt totally painless. This was a tortuous death. I don't like to see anything have to endure long suffering, animal or human. /-;
