Valentines Day - do you celebrate it?

My favorite way to spend Valentine's Day is at home, enjoying a quiet intimate candlelit dinner for two with lovely soft romantic music playing in the background. A little footsie under the table, a decadent chocolate dessert, and then... ❤️
Sounds like a perfect evening to me. Well, however your Valentines Day turns out, I hope it's lovely.

We just got home from our California trip last night so made a trip to Costco today for filet mignons, lobster tails, aspargus and fancy chocolate desserts. We traditionally went out for Valentine`s Day every single year since our first one together at 15 & 17. I remember he brought me flowers, candy and a cute stuffed animal and took me out for a fancy dinner. That was in 1966.

The last several years we have decided to drop that tradition though-prices are jacked up,quality of dinners is hit or miss and service is usually lacking. Plus we had 3 fancy dinners out while in California-one for each of our daughter`s bdays and one with our son. Enough is enough lol.

In the past, when my husband was alive, we would always celebrate Valentine's Day with cards and going out to dinner, etc. Today, being single, I joined some ladies and we went to a tea party. I loved the different teas they served and the small portions of everything (little scones, sandwiches, desserts). I did not eat everything, but I enjoyed the atmosphere very much. We all received a red rose each from the lady who invited us there. As soon as I came home, I put the rose in a vase with water.

My late husband was the eternal romantic. No class, just a bunch of flowers from the garden wrapped in toilet paper. A box of HIS favourite chocolates. Some underwear for me, which rarely fitted. He'd ask the lady in the shop what size she was and then say, "I think they'll, fit she looks the same size as you." A Valentines Day card with fifty kisses in it. That was a lifetime ago, and every Valentines Day I still remember how he loved to spoil me. 💞💝💖

I celebrated Valentine’s Day by getting a colonoscopy! At first I was taken back by them wanting to book me for that date, but then I figured that it would be a sure bet for worst personal Valentine’s Day ever! And so, having a twisted sense of humor, I allowed myself to be booked for that date, making it forever memorable and unlikely to ever be repeated… 💕

We still do, but not as extravagant as in the past. This year, take out Chinese, a warm fire in the fireplace and a viewing of the 1939 Movie Wuthering Heights. 🥰🥰

Oh yeah, almost forgot. 2 for 1 heart boxes filled with chocolate delights of February 15th. Gotta love half price.

I gave him a funny card. He gave me a romantic card. I requested no candy this year because of my strict program diet. He would never think of flowers on his own, which is OK because I didn't want any.

We went out to dinner the night before because it would be so crowded the night of Valentine's Day.

Jeez, we're old......
