Valentine's Day February 14th 2014.

(Over here at our side of the planet it is only 10am.)

Many people around the world celebrate this day by showing appreciation for the people they love or adore.

Some people take their loved ones for a romantic dinner at a restaurant while others may choose this day to propose or get married.

Many people give greeting cards, chocolates, jewelry or flowers, (particularly roses) to their loved ones.

The day focuses on love, romance, appreciation and friendship and that is in short supply in many parts of our planet.

My husband and I haven't bothered with Valentine's Day for years.:D Why is it that in the US people send cards to relations and friends on that day not just their partners? Many years ago my eldest daughter, who was doing a teaching practise exchange in the US, was very surprised to receive a Valentine's Day card from the class she was teaching. I don't think she has had one since, having never wanted a romantic relationship of any sort.

From what I remember about the original Valentines Day, it was only about giving to females that you like, love, adore.

For the 15 year old here,I got her a card, flowers, and a balloon, she will pick out what jewelry she like at the Jewelry store later.
Like Im going to get her jewelry? Anything I get is not the perfect gift that she wants so Ill let her pick it out.
A hug is all Im asking for in return.;)
