I have weak teeth implants and miss black licorice ,not recommended. Too hard or chewy. Know any that is real soft? I looked on Google. Not as common as you think. Oriental candy has licorice in it with loquat fruit. Gourmet. Good and plenty is quite chewy Even licorice foods.

@Victor, you can't go wrong with Panda. It's soft and delicious. Check it out. 🙂

Is Australian licorice not chewy enough for you?
I bought Australian black licorice and while it is soft, it sticks to your teeth like glue. I stopped eating it because I have to use a toothpick everytime. Took all the fun out of it.

I do enjoy pizzelles with anise flavor. Pizzelles are easy to eat.

Even hard candy is okay to suck on. I can't afford more teeth falling out.

Large amounts of black licorice are reported to be toxic to heart,
but you'd have to eat many bags constantly. Gentle warning.
Did you know Good and Plenty is the oldest brand candy still sold
In US?

While I cannot remember the name of it, there is a real licorice from Italy, made with licorice root that would be fine for you. It took me some time to track it down several years ago and I wish I had kept the package for future purchases.

I don't eat licorice anymore, too sweet for me. We have Daryl Lee Sweets here in Australia and I know they sell soft serve licorice.
My brother-in-law ate a whole bag of licorice one day and during the evening he had a big urge to open his bowels and had violent diarrhea. My sister called a doctor to attend thinking there was blood in his stool. When the doctor saw what he had done, he said it was the licorice and not to eat it in such large quantities. They felt quite embarrassed.

I make black licorice low carb ice cream. Using a vanilla protein shake (Keto Chow is the brand I use) and anise extract. It is really good and satisfies any cravings for ice cream or licorice.

The historic English town of Pontefract is famous for its production of liquorice confectionery, especially the small round 'Pontefract cakes' .
The town was also celebrated by the poet Sir John Betjeman.....

In the licorice fields at Pontefract
My love and I did meet
And many a burdened licorice bush
Was blooming round our feet;
Red hair she had and golden skin,
Her sulky lips were shaped for sin,
Her sturdy legs were flannel-slack'd
The strongest legs in Pontefract.

Taken at the Pontefract liquorice festival.. the round black sweets are the 'Pontefract cakes'
