Violent attack on judge in a Las Vegas courtroom during a sentencing hearing

A violent attack on judge in a Las Vegas courtroom by defendant about to be sentenced to jail not probation. He has a criminal history including domestic violence.

I've seen courtroom brawls between friends and families of victims & defendants but here a court officer was attacked violently. He was not subdued too fast either 2 injuring and one sent to hospital. He also refused to appear in a court today for charges on the attack.

Man who attacked Las Vegas judge skips court, could get bail

No way should he get bail just for his old criminal history let alone yesterday's attack on the judge.

Wow. I have to say that is one job I'd never want. Judges have been murdered over decisions. And I'd never want that kind of control over someone's life.

Either this guy is full of rage or drugs because I still can't over his leap/lunge at the judge. And was able to throw punches on the judge and other court personnel for 15-20 seconds it seemed.

He should have been a football player! I couldn't believe it when I saw that footage. Whoever was supposed to be guarding him should be reprimanded at least. Why did he have enough freedom to be able to do that?! The ABC analyst who covers court cases pointed out that judges are more at risk now than ever. This is not okay. If anything comes from publicizing what this man did, I hope it will be that methods and procedures will be put in place to better protect judges and court staff.

The criminal is due back before the same judge on Monday. It will be interesting to see what kind of security if they surround the judge or they hand cuff/shackle him. I think the judge was reading his sentence when he attacked so that hearing is not finished. Surprised his lawyer doesn't want another judge but her mind was made up before tha attack.

The criminal was back in court today to finish the hearing he interrupted with his attack on the judge. He was brought into court in shackles, mittens and a spit masker surrounded by deputies.

Felon who attacked judge in court appears before her again — this time in shackles and a spit mask

The same judge presided over the hearing finishing what she started. She said she did not modify anything after his attack
yes I watched it.. she was very cool and collected, she knew if she changed the sentence she was going to give him previously then she might have been taken off the case and a new judge preside.. so she played the long game.. tomorrow he gets sentenced for the attack on Her..

At least today they had enough police in there they could have started their own army..

I'm not sure what the criteria are, but some accused and/or convicted guys are handcuffed & shackled. And hands & feet are chained together loosely. It would have made the leap virtually impossible. Why not this guy? (Naive Canadian wonders about Nevada court conventions & rules.)

well they did when he appeared in court today.. they had him chained, shackled, masked, and some big sponge gloves on him...

Give him life & no parole chance. Next time leg irons, ball and chains. The judges will wise up & the old chains to the wall, bread n water, hole with no sunlight for years. These physical B=terds need different rights than most of us. Years of weekly shock treatments for nutz!

Would there be something in the statutes of various states in the U.S. against assessing the rap sheet (and maybe a psychologist's interview report) — and, in a case like this guy, applying handcuffs behind his back and administering a sedative or anxiolytic injection, just prior to the court appearance? Keep the convicted guy restrained & calm but awake for the sentencing. ??

Yes and of course, now he faces new charges related to his attack on her and the court staff. She will not preside over that case. Good on her for finishing what she starrted.
