That is a great tip, kburra, I have often tried do a scan,
via the Windows 10 security area and never managed
to do one!

P.S. I tried it, it found nothing and just stopped halfway
through the second pass, went to the Finish, so that is
OK on a quick scan, I might try a longer one later. Mike.

The built in Windows tools are basic and not very effective.
Especially any AV/Malware detection/malicious web site protection must be real time, and not just when you start a scan.
Many free and paid tools are available, we have used AvAst anti virus, Malwarebytes and mnay others for years. These have indeed caught bad problems as they occured and given much better protection that the usual Microsoft stuff.
