Voice messages I got right after I sent a letter to Cemetery

I wrote an email to the Transfer Admin. to request a written explanation of what I needed to do to transfer lots.
About 2 hours later I got a voice mail (that means the person knew my phone number) which I didn't see until
the next morning when I checked it because I got the alert I had Voice messages.
1st one was a lady, she gave me a name and said she was looking for me because I was mentioned in a will of so & so.
2nd one was the same but a different name and similar message but saying it was her grandfathers will had me listed.
Don't know either of the persons mentioned, so I didn't call them, I deleted and blocked them.

Doesn't this sound like the cemetery is selling/passing Phone Numbers to other parties to you?
Or an employee is running a scam?
That pretty much convinced me to stop right there and tear the papers up.

That quick of a scam call makes me wonder if the info is being pulled from your phone or internet. Did you do an internet search for related info before you emailed the transfer dept.? Or possibly even the cemeteries internet is hacked and being mined for info.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cemetery sells your info, many places do unfortunately, but a two hour turnover between your email and a scam call seems kind of quick for the cemetery to be the source of your personal info.

An internet search will do it every time. A couple of days ago, I googled an item I was curious about, and almost instantly started getting ads popping up for that item .

This was not from a search first as I have the contact info on the title to the lots at that cemetery. I went straight to their contact info.

My son was telling me back in 2008-2009 there was a big investigation on cemeteries and funeral homes in that area for all kinds
of scams going on. You'd think after so many got caught it would have been safe by now. I truly think it was an employee there with
a partner more so than the business itself.
