Volunteering at the VA

I just started volunteering at the VA where I go regularly. Not in the sense that I render health care, I'm an accountant by training. When persons are entering the center they don't know exactly where to go for their appointment. Maybe they entered from a way that was new to them, or changes in the center make things unfamiliar. I received that help before, especially when I first started going to the VA. At the same time I'm getting to converse with folks that I have things in common with, and I get exercise that can be difficult to motivate myself to do. Kind of feels good to give back a little, or pay it forward.

I've thought about doing that. I think it would be worthwhile.

Maybe it is the blush of doing something new right now for me. I had thought about doing this for quite some time. Over the years I seen a lot of versions of it. If guiding someone to their destination there are other things. You can read to vets whose disability prevents them from doing that, or any number of helpful things. Investigate it and see if it's really you feel comfortable with. No harm not foul just checking it out. If that's not for you maybe help at your church or at children's center. The VA does a complete background check, got keep crazies out.
