Do people still use votive candles? My mom used to use them but only on Christmas eve when she put luminaria out:

My son has them lit continuously in a special place in his house in memoriam for his late wife.
I'm assuming the man in your avatar is your son. He's very handsome and friendly-looking.

Yes Pepper that is my son. Thank you for the compliments. He's handsome, somewhat shy with new people except in business. Not too shy with women but he's newly widowed. Lost his wife to cancer just 2 years ago and he's still not over it. She was only 49 and she went very fast.

My condolences to your son. I also lost my wife to cancer. Might I suggest he look into widowedvillage.org. It is a site for people who have been widowed. I was active on similar site which is now closed.

This set of 3 battery operated candles from IKEA turn themselves off after 6 hours use
I put them in our 2 garage windows which face the road as a small token of remembrance
I use them for ANZAC Day 25th April and Remembrance Day 11th November

Thank you Bowmore, I'll advise him of this. He also does belong to a group he met through his spiritual advisor right after she passed and they are there for one another when the going gets too rough.
