Walmart deli hours are changed

Today I went to Walmart for a few items and then stopped at the deli to get some of their good hard salami and ham for company that's coming tomorrow. I walked up to the counter and 2 guys were behind the counter just talking to each other and ignored me. Finally one of them says, sorry, the deli doesn't open until 10 am. I gave them an annoyed look but just walked off. I looked at my phone for the time and it was 9:50! There they are, standing around doing nothing, and they couldn't be bothered with me! What the he**!

Since I was done with shopping I just left and went to Kroger. I should have just stood there for 10 minutes staring at them.

Why would Walmart open at 6am but the deli isn't open until 10:00? That doesn't make a bit of sense. Even their website doesn't mention that.

I think it's because they can't get enough workers. Hours are being cut back in lots of stores here for that reason.

Btw, I don't blame you for being angry at being ignored but I think the reason is similar. They can't get enough quality workers either.

I can understand being short staffed, but two employees were standing there doing nothing!

I know, that's where the lack of quality employees comes in. It's too bad you didn't go to the manager. It's one thing if there is a sign with the hours and another when an employee refuses to help you. Is there another Walmart that's not too far?

Must be an epidemic... same thing happened to me last week but not Walmart. I knew that McD's starts serving lunch at 11 so I waited until then to grab a quick burger. Drive-thru... I put the order in and got "sorry, we don't serve lunch until 11." Looked at the car clock, 10:58. Got on my last nerve, so I asked her what time she has. "10:59, ma'am. We don't serve lunch until 11" Totally ridiculous. Still trying to decide if she actually realized that there's just one minute between 10:59 and 11:00. 🤷‍♀️

Yes, there's another Walmart close by but it's smaller so I don't generally go there. I've been avoiding Walmart altogether lately except for paper products and few odd items that I like (like the hard salami and ham they carry). It seems the bigger the chain store, the worse customer service gets.

Our Kroger deli is now permanently closed. They still make some of the food, but package it and put it on the shelf.
We went to Taco Bell yesterday at 6pm and the dining room was closed, the long drive through line was the only option.

Kroger carries the Boar's Head brand meat and it was $12.99 (call it $13) a pound for plain baked ham. With prices like that I'm surprised anyone buys from the deli anymore. So yeah, less employees needed. And it seems no one expects to get less than $30.00 for an entry level job. Something's got to give.
