I had to go to WalMart to get a fitted sheet for my bed. They have a lot of sheet sets - all I need was a fitted sheet for a twin bed. Had to hunt high and low on the shelves and what I found were dark gray, tan and maroon. Not my first choice for color, but then probably doesn't matter when the lights are out.

Then I though I'd shop for jeans as long as I was there. This also entailed a time consuming search. Couldn't find any with an elastic waist. I saw a clerk stocking the shelves and asked if they had any elastic waist jeans. She just stared blankly at me, then gave a tremulous "No." I saw a couple of what seemed more experienced clerks at the entrance to the fitting room and repeated my question. One said, "I haven't seen those in years!" and suggested I try Target. I didn't want to drive all the way to the other store, so I though I'd come home and check it out their stock online before venturing there. I didn't see any elastic waist jeans there, either. What happened to these fashion statements? They had plenty of torn jeans that I would trash if I had them.

And please - don't suggest buying online - I can't.

Sigh... I know all too well your frustration in this department, Deb.

My suggestion to you is, look online for a style and name brand you like (jeans), and then call around your area to see who carries the likes of. You may have to make a day trip to get what you want, but it will be money well spent.

As for bedding, I gave up on buying cheap, poor quality bedding from big box/chain stores, and now visit specialty bedding stores for such. Sure, I pay a little more, but I get a whole lot more, quality personal service being one of them.
 
I appreciate the suggestions, but I like to see what I am buying as to fit and material. Mail order prevents that. Plus if I don't like what I order, there's the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a refund. I am pretty much relegated to shopiong at a brick and mortar retail store and the choices are limited here in the "boonies" - WalMart, Boscov's, Marshall's, Target and Kohl's.

It's called a "road trip" Deb! :)

Get out of the house for a day or two and spoil yourself with a little shopping trip along with a little pampering.

The last pair of elastic jeans I bought was at QVC and that was years ago. I loved those jeans and tried to buy more but they were always sold out. They were very popular "back in the day". They were the most comfortable jeans I ever wore.

Terry. Are you talking an actual stretch jean fabric, or a jean with a stretch elastic waistband?

I really like kohl’s clothes but they are too expensive. I wait for clearance as I could care less about color and care more about budget.
 
I lost weight and I am holding my pants up with a safety pin and they are a little baggy about the hips. I was hoping to get some that fit better. The ones I have now are 3x petite. Now I am 5"4" (163cm) tall and the petite size is still kinda long for me, The regular waist may be fine standing, but I need room when sitting. Too many choices these days as to leg style.

You must have short legs, cause 5’4” seems tall, I am 5’ 1” and petite is also a bit long on me 😂. So called petal pushers reach to right above the bottom of my shoe, have you tried shopping junior sizes? The length might be better for you.

Do you perhaps have a Kohl's somewhere nearby?
