Walmart Missouri Armed Man Yesterday 08/08

In case you missed it a young man entered a Walmart with a semiautomatic rifle with 100 rounds wearing a bulletproof vest and walked about pushing a shopping cart. Finally the manger pushed the fire alarm and the patrons started leaving. So, once again the guy walks right in to the store with a rifle and no one says/does anything!!! I was thinking about this before I saw it meaning what would be the response if a person did what this man did with no intention of harming anyone? He is charged with making a terrorist threat. But he threatened no one.
Now consider this fact, he was legal because the MO. law states they can carry weapons as long as they are not carried in a threatening manner. This law is true in many states. So it seems the legislatures have painted themselves in to a corner. One, a person can walk in to a store or picnic area or anyplace permitted to carry and walk around with a loaded M16 or AK47 and there is nothing anyone can do. Then that person decides to start killing everyone. It will be interesting to see how this pans out in court but I don't see a conviction if he did not break the current laws.

I saw that on tv. Didn't the guy know he was going to scare the crap out of everyone at the very least? I think he said he was testing his rights.

They may have to modify that "open carry" law, in view of the epidemic of insanity that is sweeping across this nation. Maybe a federal law can override the individual states' laws? So it would have to be enacted by Congress.

I wish they would change open carry laws. It is foolish to open carry unless you're a police officer & the gun is part of the uniform. The holsters officers use have triple levels of retention & their gun cannot be easily snatched. Open carriers who carry in public places are basically attention seekers & some enjoy making others nervous (passive aggression).
The only place I would open carry is on my gated property.
