Arrived at 10:15 called the number and waited ten minutes-nothing. Walked to the side door and asked an employee what is going on. He took my info. I gave when I arrived and I went back to my truck and waited 10 more minutes-nothing. I called a second time and had to give my information for a third time. After 5 minutes an employee carried out my one item, order at 10:40. Never again.

I use Walmart's pickup.. I order and my son picks it up on his way home from work.
He loves it. Yes he has had to wait a couple of times, 15 minutes..
He said he would rather wait then going through isle and people getting items.
Safer to with virus around.
Do you always have that long of a wait for pickup or is this the first time?

I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes total - from when I park and when my order is loaded. Your store is doing it wrong, Dog.

My only complaint is that I don't like the stuff they choose as a substitute for an item I ordered that's out of stock, so I have to tick all the No Substitute boxes when I make my order. That takes a little extra time, but we're talking a few minutes. (how spoiled are we?)

I have been lucky with the substituted items so far.
Example, I ordered a 50 gallon trash can for outside, cheapest one, I got a 55 gallon heavy duty one that cost 17.00 more for same price of one I ordered,
Bratwurst I ordered a 6 pack size, got a 12 pack for same price of one I ordered.
I ordered 2 scented candles, 3.00 each, got 2 same scent ones but bigger and cost 5.00 each, cost me 3.00 each.
So far it's been good.

I only lucked out once, and since I'd checked No Substitute, they actually texted me first to ask if it was okay. It's interesting to me that "my" Walmart is in the worst part of the city but it has better customer service than the "good" one.

I default to Allow Substitutions. If you don’t like it, you can refuse it when you pick up. It’s always a bigger or better item for the same price.

I had a funny one the other day. 3 bags of Bold coffee, 3 bags of Dark roast. Whoever did the substitution on the Bold chose Hazelnut. The lady who brings out the order & I cracked up over how stupid this was. The night clerk obviously didn’t drink coffee.

I used grocery store services. Let's face the "Services" are a part-time17 year old kid, who hasn't been in a grocery store since he was 12. They have to run around the store ,grabbing stuff off a shelf. This is a good system for one or two items. If you have a large order, the kid is frantically running around grabbing whatever "substitutions". This is one of those things they just started and haven't really worked out the bugs. It's a cheap "service", stores never expected to catch on as much as it has.

Before I checked No Subs, they almost always subbed with a different brand. That's what I didn't like. It's no big deal. If it's something I really need I just go to the grocery store near my place and get it, otherwise I just wait a few days and reorder.

I haven't used Walmart, but my Aldi and Food Lion are great. They text me throughout the shopping in case they have to make substitutions. I get big orders too.

Was it toilet paper??

I don't order groceries but do use the pickup for regular items. Never wait more than 5 minutes.

What does bother me is that some people use the designated pickup spots because they are close to the door to park and they are not picking up. They are just going into the store to shop. The employees know this and do nothing so sometimes others have to wait for a spot.

I use the Walmart pickup grocery service all the time now, and the only time I had to wait more than just a few minutes was a couple days before Christmas. The pickup area was packed and the people who bring out the groceries were running around doing their best to get stuff out as soon as possible. I didn't mind waiting.

That happens here too. It’s not really the closest, just closest for ease of parking.

It definitely takes me longer to shop online than in the store. It wouldn’t find “pepper green” or ”green pepper.” A couple of weeks ago I’d bought one and it showed in my regular items. I’ll see if I get it tomorrow.

Do you mean bell peppers? I get those all the time in my order.
Another way to look for peppers is click on fresh vegetables then scroll down looking at all available.

a few years ago, i had a fall, broke my humerus in a few places and was pretty much house/couch bound for almost 6 months before i was allowed to drive again. friends would call when they were heading out on about any shopping trip to see if i needed anything or wanted to come along. there were times i used shoprite's at-home service and was fairly satisfied.

since maybe end of the year, pretty much ALL "self-serve" food items have become prepackaged. produce still lets you pick out your own items, but seafood is all pre-packaged. the deli is most recent area to be totally hands off. i have ordered deli meats/cheeses from home and WILL continue ordering things like that from home.

My worst Walmart wait was 3 hours, there were a lot of cars there and they accidentally put my order in someone else's car. They said they would re-pick my order. If I'd realized it would take an additional couple hours+ I'm not sure I would have waited. But they gave me a $10 gift card, and it was early enough in the pandemic that I wasn't used to being alone all the time so it was kind of nice to sit in the parking spot and do people watching.
Most of the time they bring out the order in 10 minutes.

That was my first time - one person next to me waited about 15 minutes while others got away quicker. Mine opens at 6Am on Tuesdays so I'll go then. I'm finding Home Depot is frequently out of stock on item I try to order and when they redirect me to other stores online those have only a couple or are out also. This has been the case for several years. Online inventories don't always match what is in the stores.

Wow! When my husband and I were in VA visiting his daughter a few years ago, we had to go pick up something for her because she owns a bakery, was short handed so couldn't leave. They delivered her stuff within a couple of minutes of us arriving. My son picks up my Walmart.com orders (N.J.) but I think he just goes inside. It's something how experiences can differ from place to place. Sorry you had a bad one.
