Wands and Box Art

Many years ago I relocated from city to a rural town, and met my neighbours. One of them, Barrie was a crystal therapist. Over the years we became best of friends. In that time Barrie would now and again surprise me with his "Let me try something on you. Now close your eyes". A little time later I would feel something happening inside of me which I never felt before in my whole life. My reactions would always make Barrie and his wife laugh, because it simply confirmed that crystals interacted with us without physical contact.

One time, with my eyes closed I suddenly felt a whole opening up behind my forehead. Still with my eyes closed I would try to rub away that feeling on my forehead. I felt a breeze going through it. I opened my eyes to see them laughing. I asked "What just happened, I feel a hole in my forehead?" Barrie said, "I used the wand to open your third eye". I said "What's a third eye....".

This is how I got interested in wand making. I had no interest in becoming a crystal therapist. I was already in the field of rehab counselling, and crystal therapy was shunned by other professionals, so it would not be good for me to advocate it within my employment. However, I had many first hand, unbiased, experiences with crystals a chakras. So I got intrigued and started creating wands to experiment, on myself, with. Some of which are a bit scary because I don't fully understand how it works.

I stopped making wands when Barrie passed away. That was just over twenty years ago. However, I have plans now, in my retirement, to place these wands into several box art (art in a box) pieces.

This was my first wand I made (before I met Barrie) from a wild peach tree branch (a requirement to what I wanted to make). There was a lot of sychronicity happening while making this wand. The main one is how was I supposed to acquire a wild peach tree branch in the middle of Sydney, where I lived at the time. I never saw a peach tree growing there. To cut the long story short, while on foot doing an errand, I decided to take a short cut along the railway scrubland. I came across council workers clearing dead trees, weeds etc. and there was a tree that grew from a peach thrown out of a passing train. Go figure!

I do believe we are cosmic cousins, reteP, both working in the caregiving field, being artists, and having an Earthly guide named Barrie.

Your works are magnificent and beliefs esoterically wonderful! Our mainstream mindset may call this metaphysical New Age nonsense, but it definitely has a place in the holistic realm.

I don't want to bore you with my similar beliefs, feelings, and experiences, and do wish you would share more.

Right On, reteP!

Thanks for your response.

Interesting that you do not want to bore me with your similarities, but interested in my similarities. (I am just being querky).

We tend to share who we are when the opportunity presents itself. It may vary from our burried past to our ideal self. But what is important is how we present it at the time. However, in my personal experience, I tend to put everything under the umbrella of "It is not necessarily so". In this way it helps me to keep an open mind.

Querk away, reteP.

In her book, I'm Dysfunctional, You're Dysfunctional, Wendy Kaminer wrote that there are two truths about people, and one is that everyone likes to talk about themselves.

I already know about me, so I don't have a need to know me, like de ja vu, all over again. However, I do not know about you, have pointed out similarities, and like National Enquirer minds, wish to know more.

Similar experiences with palm reading here
I looked into that field a long time ago. I still have somewhere my inkprint I made of my hands when I was a teenager. I did that to get a better view of my palm. But have not looked at hand prints since then. but have had experiences with palm chakras some twenty years ago (my, how time flies).

Interestingly, it was only last week when my past interest got a stirring. It is to do with fingerprints. They say that everybody has a unique set of fingerprints. But I learnt that the only likely set of prints to almost match my own would be from a twin. Interesting that twins almost share identical lives. So too would their palms almost read the same. A kind of confirmation would you not say.

I know another book, I'm OK, You're OK, by Thomas Anthony Harris (1967).

Yeah, Ms. Kaminer's 1992 book title was a probably a play on Dr. Harris' classic.
Maybe, but I am sure both are just as good for whoever seeks what they want from them at the time of reading.

I often reread a good book many months or years later, to find new material I missed from the first reading. We learn things over time, and when we reread something, we read it with a new mindset. Many things, on the first reading, may have unconsciously been denied, or we just lacked depth of understanding. Then later, new stuff surfaces for us to grasp later. . . Often I would say to myself, "How come I missed that during my first reading?"

After I met Barrie, I created my next wand. I used Barrie's notes, and link referrals, as guide to making a wand. My wands from the start were very different to Barrie's, but he encouraged me to carry on.

So my next wand, and all the others, incorporated a copper tube for the holding-hand to channel energies to and from the stone terminator. It works as a waveguide. Anyway, I am not going to expand on this any further, for my goal is to share the artwork side of it. This wand is my smallest waveguided wand (certain gemstones of longitudinal shape are also called wands). It has two terminal ends; one is a bloodstone and the other is a piece of pyrite. Both are used for unblocking the mid-body section. So it is labelled as a pulminary-gastro wand.

2024-06-25.jpg

The box art painting will be divided into two parts. The left side for the pyrite properties and the other side for bloodstone. The backround colour theme for pyrite will be gold and dark colours; the right side will be dark green with red flecks and patterns. For the torso, on the left side will be red arteries, and the right side will be blue veins. But I have not yet envisioned what and how to portray the gastro part of it yet.

My next wand is more of a conjuring wand and an athame. The athame is inside the wand. I etched the blade with ferric chloride to symbolise which way to use the athame (in/out flow of energy). The stones (amethyste and snowflake obsidian), on the handle penetrates the copper tube waveguide and acts as a portal for either left or right hand palm chakra. The amethyste is for divine connection and the snowflake obsidian is for protection.

2024-06-25_large.jpg
The clear quartz crystal, on the wand, has four windows for clarity. The butt of the athame is calcite, which facilitates and increases capacity for astral projection.

The box art background will be a painting similar to the sketch shown below. The athame and wand half will be underneath the partion of the box.

There are so many good authors & books out there that gave basic premises of human behavior besides Wendy Kaminer's, which could be applied in the real world, like Marty Slegimen's Learned Optimism, Diane Ackerman's Alchemy of the Mind, Daniel Gilbert's Stumbling on Happiness, Drs. Pieperts' Addicted to Unhappiness, and William Wright's Born That Way.

I met my Barrie while going through the RN program back in the late '80's. Her father wanted a son, so she got the name which was already picked out.

Barrie was (is?) a psychic who assisted the police in a couple of local murder cases, one where a baby's body was located. She guided me through a past life regression, and gave me clues which helped me through a painful divorce.

By no means am I into the forces to which you are involved, reteP, but once again, I reinforce that such forces are there and can be utilized.

This wand is a bit scary, but I'll explain my reasoning later.
We have camphor laural trees in our area. I found a recently broken off branch that also had the remnance of a tree vine around it. Its impressions were deep. I made a wand from it.

Basically, this is the design of this wand. The copper tube and pipe are the waveguides.

I originally had planned this to be some sort of healing wand for fauna and flora. However, when I showed Barrie, and explained what I wanted it for, he became very adamant that the wand was too powerful for healing. I was surprised that he thought so, but I supposed he knew better. So after I got back home (I was now living in a new town) I wondered what to do with the wand.

I thought, if it is powerful I might as well weild it as such and see what happens. So I weilded around above my head, like winding it up. Then like cracking a whip I thrust my arm forward pointing outside the window. Immediately a massive BOOM occured and I instantly hit the deck. It was a very close lightning strike! Several seconds later it started to rain. I thought "What's going on here, it was sunny with some clouds only a while ago". I got over my sensory shock and looked outside. There was a single darkish rain cloud passing overhead.

The whole episode scared me, and still does. I have never used this wand again. There are times when the word 'coincidence' just does not cut it for this split second incident.

Anyway, about the box art. The above image looks bare, but for me it feels right for this wand. A singular tree in a wheat field, with dark skies, gets struck by lightning, lighting up the field itself.

Thank you Davey Do for your share. I hope resolutions will follow you throughout your life.

We all have in one way or another experienced things that defy the physical realm we live in. There are finer realms within the dense one we are familar with. Science says there are many dimensionalities within is world and us too, including those without the restrains of time, such as telepathy (and a NASA experiment proved that). I have friends who laugh and scoff at the finer realities, and yet they use light and radio waves everyday. I chose not to deny such things but to face my fears about the unknown as best as I can, and have become a better person for it.

Hi @reteP! I just now read through this thread. Doing so brought back many memories I have of my "spiritual" journey. From my teenage years I have been involved in searching for the meaning of life. Along the way I have learned from many traditions, religions, cultures, and magic from ancient times to the present. I chose to "leave the world" and take vows to learn and practice Buddhism by entering a small monastery in 1986. I am still in the monastery.

My second wife practiced Wiccan and was very involved with crystals. I love what you have created and shown pictures of here. I have been involved with crystal healing sessions. I am not very well versed in the knowledge of them, but respect those who do. The detail and care you have shown by your "arts" are stunning. I am very glad you found this way of expressing your "esoteric" self. :)

I noticed you are from the Northern Rivers in Australia. It is a wonderland!!!!! I was wondering if you have been in contact with any "shamans". You mentioned Barrie earlier in your posts. Was he/she considered a shaman? Did/do you study the words and practices of a shamanistic nature? Buddhism also has a strong tradition of creating symbolic art works. For instance , the famous sand mandala's that monks meticulously make for days, with very strong symbolic images, and then destroyed when it is finished.

I am glad you found this forum, and look forward to your posts. Again, I really like what you are doing with your art work, and look forward to seeing more. :)

First of all, thank you for showing an interest in my past experiences with crystal wands and healing.
I really don't know if Barrie saw himself as a shaman. However, he was deeply immersed into American indian culture. In saying so, he may have followed North American indian shanamism. He would often get me to sit with him on top of hills and meditate on sunsets. He also often used American indian oracle cards; it was extremely uncanny how we almost always drew the same card from a shuffled pack. Barrie had a vast collection of North American indian music, and would listen to it daily.

I did not study shamanism, though I read a few books on it, as well as Buddhism. My own focus is truth; which comes from the metaphyisal depths of ourself. What I am showing here are artefacts, which becomes a channel between the finer realms (the unfamiliar) to the denser realm we are all familiar with. About ten years ago I left these artefacts for a much better one, myself. We all have a finer inner being which thrives on what is true; anything else than truth comes from our outer being. When we allow the inner to become our outer consciousness, then we become true.

I am hoping to show, through box artforms, how these are artefacts / tools which can be used to channel between different realms. That finer realms exists everywhere. Our dense realm is confined, but the finer realms are not. The finer realms is more real and true than what we are used to in this world we walk through. The crystal latice is a natural artefact which can channel its own energy as well as our own human energy to flow from dense to finer, and finer to dense realms. That's basically it.

Humans can do this alone, or as an artefact in itself. A simple but very much overlooked example of channeling energy is unconditional love (shared grace).

This wand is a general purpose healing wand, aka clearing wand, chakra wand and/or an in/out wand. In regards to chakras, a divining pendulum is often used to determine chakra status.

Long before I knew anything about crystal therapy, wands, chakras, etc., I had a remarkable introduction to chakras.
My girlfriend at the time was a masseuse. I remember the first time she gave me a massage. As she worked up from my toes to the top of me head I would see vivid colours in my mind at different locations of my body. As I saw them I told her what the colour was. I never experienced anything like that before.

At the end of the massage, I asked her if she knew what it was I was experiencing. She said I saw the colours of the various chakras of the body. I said "What are chakras?" It was then that I saw tears of joy in her eyes, because my experience actually confirmed that chakras existed. She then showed me a book that showed the different colours of the chakras, and they were exactly what I experienced. So I became an instant believer of chakras.

Anyway, this wand has two types of crystals, one pointed and the other has an edge (flat). They work in specific directions of energy flow. For me, I see the point as outgoing, and the flat edge, like a scanner, as inflowing. Some people see it the other way around.

Here you can see how I used small crystals to channel between the palm chakra to inside the wavguide.

This wand came to mind while perusing the local scrapmetal yard for copper bits and pieces. I came across a piece that was apparently a water air chamber used in plumbing. It has now become a tincture wand.

Often certain herbs and potions are used for healing. The tinture wand is a way to infuse such healing energies through the wand. The tincture is is poured into the wand's waveguide.

The rear sealing plate has 4 fingerscrews to secure it.

The wand is stored pointing down and at a pointed rose quartz for cleansing. The jars on the right will have preserved herbs in them.
The painting will have a darkish background showing a bright coloured tincture brewing in a flask.

The next two wands uses what is called laser crystals, or if used without a waveguide or handle are simply called laser wands. One is for outgoing energy and the other incoming. I decided to attach them to a waveguide for a particular reason. Both wands can incorporate mixed coloured light that is tuned to the colour of the chakra. These two wands are specifically to work with chakras.

I learnt my trade as an electronics technician while I was in the RAAF for 6 years. The instrument box above, on the right side is for blending the desired colour of the light that penerates the crystal medium. The far right controls are used for pulsing the wand light to a required brainwave frequency.

Above, the bottom row, as an example shows variations of intensity between red and blue LEDs. The first is 50-50 for both LEDs, the centre one is more blue than red, and so on. The control box uses a slider potentiometer for tuning the exact desired colour.

Here are the colours of the chakras.

And this is roughly how I will represent them in a double box art.

I am not sure what to call my last wand, but since its construction I have called it a psychic scalpel wand. Barrie passed away before I could complete this wand. It is largely untried, and therefore its characteristics may prove the wand to be something else again.

The crystal itself is known as a scapel laser wand. by incorporating certain electromagnetic principles, the wand can become controlled to perform certain functions. The wand itself serves as a prototype for experimentation and research in said matter. It can be interfaced to a computer for manipulating the four coils that are formed around the crystal.

The light probe can be incorporated with this wand too, and possibly used for chakras.

The box art background will primary be mysteriously dark. The head will be highlighted, showing a combination of x-ray, scan, and brainwave imagery.
