My name is Sarah. I enjoy meeting people and getting to know them though I find that harder to do as I get older. You look like an active group, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Life has been good to me...I had wonderful parents, then 48 years ago married the boy next door, and followed him through 20 army postings until we retired and moved back to our home state of Washington. We have a daughter and a son. Our son is single and has no children. Our daughter presented us with our three fabulous grandchildren. 2 girls 17 and 19 and a boy who is 22. They lived next door to us for about 15 years, so we spent a lot of time watching/helping our grandkids grow up.

I do all manner of crafts...knitting, crocheting, photography, sewing, card making, scrapbooking, pine needle basket making, and gardening. I try just about any craft, succeeding at some and not so much so at others.

I look forward to getting to know the good folk here!

Aloha NanaSarah & E Komo Mai (Welcome) from The Big Island of Hawaii. I think you'll like this spot.

Nice to meet you Sarah. I used to live in Japan too as a child whose father was in the navy....we lived off base the first year in Hayama, then in Yokohama. It was an amazing opportunity to experience a foreign culture in my formative years. I have an admiration for the Japanese people, their traditions, festivals, their politeness, their hospitality, and more. I remember everything as if it were yesterday.

Hi Sarah, good to have you join us!

Thanks for the welcome everybody. Jujube...I understand your boyfriend's 10 schools in 12 years. We moved 19 times in 20 years, dragging our kids along! LOL! They STILL say they loved growing up that way. I lived in the same house all my growing up years!

OOOH Australia, Kadee46. I've always wanted to visit Australia! My grandson is co-authoring a paper they'll be presenting in Australia next year. I'm so jealous! We moved so much with the Army, I'm not much of a traveler any more, though!

Welcome from Georgia! We will have been married 48 years this year. We have a single son and a married daughter with two grandchildren. But they are much younger than yours (11 and 5). They bring much joy to our lives. They live up the street and around the corner from us! I love gardening, photography, scrapbooking (which I am so behind in getting the grand kid's books up to date).

Had to laugh at your saying you were behind in scrapbooking the grandkids. I was REALLY into scrapbooking, then one day I went to store all the albums together. I had this BIG shelf full of albums and the kids were still not yet teens. I started thinking that if I kept scrapping at that rate, they'd have to have a room in their adult homes just to house their scrapbooks. So, I slowed way down. I didn't really know HOW to slow down at first because, in my opinion EVERYTHING they did was photo worthy. A friend said that when she was deciding what to photograph and later what to put in scrapbooks, she would ask herself "Would I like to see my Great Grandfather doing this?" If not, she didn't make album pages of her grandchild doing it.

I got to thinking that NO I didn't want to see a pic of my great grandfather using the potty for the first time...or sitting in the dentist chair....or see his bare bottom on a bear-skin rug. That made it easier for me to fill fewer albums!

...Though my grandson is heading off to Graduate school this summer, and I think I'll make up book of all those embarrassing pics I DID take and send to him when he gets settled. Like when he walked up to my mother, turned around, pulled his pants down and squealed "LOOK! I'm wearing big boy pants!" There he is...mooning his great grandma!

Anybody else get bound books of their photos through Smilebooks or Snapfish". They do nice work...I wait for their sales and order books.

I have done the bound books through Shutterfly. They are lovely! I wait for the sales too!
