Warring Neighbours Have you ever had a problem with yours ?

There was an apartment over me, and this couple moved in. I heard hubby threw her down the steps. I worked 4-12, so I never heard this. They never paid the rent and moved out. The landlord brought me upstairs to see the apartment. For some reason, they took all the plaster of the walls and just left the bare studs. Why????????

Sounds like something out of a movie.

Wonder if they were looking for something they thought was there, but didn't know where. If all of the drywall was removed, I would guess they didn't find it. No one will ever know.

No problems with the neighbors here... all helpful and decent. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves, but it's also a given that they'd be there immediately if needed.
My experience too.
Mine also. Sure, I've had some neighbors I've liked better than others, but I followed my parents' template to be friendly (but not overly so) with neighbors - and have been fortunate enough to have neighbors who felt the same.

A 1994 earthquake was severe in our area. It hit in January at 4:31 AM, and all power ceased immediately so it was pitch dark. It took a while - probably 10 minutes - to get our bearings, calm and organize the kids, locate shoes, jackets, flashlights, car keys, do bathroom runs (after reseating the toilet), and so forth.

When we got outside, several neighbors had amassed on our lawn, devising a plan to get into our house to rescue us from the harm they feared we'd suffered. Their relief when we came outside was obvious and touching.

During a severe aftershock a few minutes later, DD was about ten feet away from me. A neighbor who I barely knew was standing next to her, and the woman hugged and soothed DD through the shaking. ❤️ Turned out she was a marriage & family counselor. Throughout the week or two that our neighborhood was mostly on its own because the damage was so widespread, we helped each other through and shared our resources.

It was an object lesson: when a crisis hits, neighbors are our closest and most important support system.

This is the type of thing where these folks just feel justified to destroy other peoples property.
Is it any wonder why good or caring landlords are in short supply? because they have so many like this to deal with.
