Was Asked If I'd Like to Donate to the Children's Breakfast Program

At the Grocery Store Cash...

I told the clerk, "If a parent can't pour a bowl of cereal for their kid in the morning, shouldn't the Children's Aid Society get involved"?

The woman didn't understand my query and just said 'Okay'.

Really tired of shopping and getting harassed by every charity under the Sun. I'm no skinflint...I give to certain specified charities throughout the year. But please just leave me alone while I'm grocery shopping or clothes shopping.

First thing I need to do is to verify the organization and that they are aiding live children and not on paper.
After what I saw going on in Minneapolis, we are more careful who we donate to.

I get similar requests at checkout usually around thanksgiving. I ignore them and the "homeless" guy outside the door asking for money. Leave me alone.

Sometimes I'm prompted by machines (or asked by clerks) if I want to round up my purchase to the next dollar for such-and-such charity. I just say no and add nothing else, except one day when I was in a really bad mood, I told the clerk all my charity donations go Save The Elephants.
