Watched an able-bodied male park in a handicapped persons bay.

He walked off to the restaurant strip.
I waited 20 minutes thinking he might be dropping something off or picking something/someone up.
After this time, I walk to the car see there is no "Permit to park" in this bay.
Went back to the bench and wrote a short note;

This bay is for handicapped people. Why do you think you are entitled to park here?
I have forwarded a photo of your car to the shire.
Got to stop you pretentious wankers somehow.

When I see things like this, I try to remind myself that there are a number of invisible disabilities. I wouldn't be able to see cancer, diabetes, etc. I don't know how it is there, but illnesses like that can be given handicapped parking if it affects their mobility in ways we also couldn't see. (Exhaustion after walking a short distance, neuropathy pain, etc.)

We all tend to sit in silent judgment but I would never pass judgment by placing a note on a person’s car.

I would be upset to find a note on my car for anything other than a person’s name and address to report a minor fender bender or scratch.

IMO placing a note, menu, advertisement, etc… on my vehicle comes close to vandalism, trespassing and depending on the content harassment and intimidation.

The world has changed, today something as simple as placing a note on someone’s car could get you shot.

Anyone with a disability here, applies and receives a Permit to Park" in a disability parking bay. No permit, no park.

Getting shot for doing something like I done is highly unlikely here in Australia.
Harassment and intimidation? The guy was showing total disrespect to disabled people and the law.
Not calling them out is tantamount to allowing everyone to take no notice of any laws.

The same in Germany. Thus nobody has an excuse for parking there without a permit. Even if somebody broke a leg I don't see any legal possibility to use a disability parking bay.

Same here.
And from what I've seen/known, it isn't difficult for individuals to obtain those signs.
Or use someone else's. It works until they get caught. I know someone who used her deceased father's placard until it expired. Her rationale, "Well, if he were still alive, it'd still be being used!" Her husband used it, too.

My late husband was disabled and he had a placard. That did not mean that I had one. These are not family cards.
I did briefly park in a spot so I could drop him off close to the door so that he could walker in.
Then I would go park in the regular spots. Later I would go get the car and pick him up.

i took the husband to numerous weekly and sometimes daily hospital and doctor appointments.
Lots of times I saw people with placards who obviously should have been able to park in a handicap spot but had to walk in from the lot because all the spots were occupied. I wouldnt blame them for giving me the stink eye for zipping out and jumping in the car. I was perfectly capable even though he was not. I saw no reason to occupy a spot that someone else needed more.

You would be surprised at the people who would see that card and want me to park in the handicap spaces so they didnt have to walk. When he passed I tossed his card.

Jmo. Parking in those spots when youre not could be tempting fate. Tomorrow fate may give you a reason to park there.

That's nice that you waited, because it could have been true that he was picking up his grandma or something like that.

I wish handicapped spots were available for everybody when it is late at night, I used to hate stopping at the store late and having to park farther away and walk past all the empty handicapped spots.

My mom had a handicapped mirror tag. When we went to see my dad when he was in the hospital (his last time), she parked in a reserved space and got out. We were walking towards the hospital when a man pulled up along side of us and demanded to know why she parked in a handicapped spot since she didn't look disabled. She responded, "Not all handicaps are visible." (she had heart problems). She mentioned later that the permit shows a stylized person in a wheelchair which can be misleading in some instances.
