Watching T V for entertainment?

Off my lap my T V remote slipped and landed on the floor. And broke apart. No, no! I tried and tried to put it back together correctly, no use. Not having to strain to get up shaking from my recliner and grab hold of my walker to get to the TV to change channels, had been a blessing, especially when (temporarily) I changed channels when an irritating commercial interrupted the program I was watching. Having control of changing T V channels gave sitting and watching T V a bit of entertainment for the day. My daughter plans on picking up a new remote for me today (to save my sanity? LOL)

So sorry to hear about your misadventure, @Elsie... I'm getting more and more prone to
similar fumblings, or whatever... 'tis sad. But I just have to get more creative in planning around
such things... I'm thankful that I can still manage many things!!

BTW, some of the newer TVs have apps for your phone that can be used as a remote... mine does, and while I had
previously thought the notion silly... maybe not so much!?

Do these new TVs also come with a remote?

We have remotes for TV, DVD and Bose Sound. We tried putting them all on one remote but it just got more complicated.

@Elsie I hope you get your new one soon.
Putting the tv and dvd on the remote shouldn’t be real difficult if you use the instructions. If you get confused, maybe there’s an 800 number you can call for help. The Bose sound bar may be problematic on a generic remote. You may have to only use the Bose remote.
Good luck.

I once would have a T V remote in one hand and a video recorder remote in the other hand for switching from a movie to a T V show or the other way around. One day my son saw me fast switching from one to the other (like shooting off two six guns...lol) and he stared in amazement. I sure couldn't do that now. 😮

A guy once wrote that he gave his elderly father a new television for Christmas. He showed his father how to use the TV and the remote. The next time he came over to watch a show with his dad, when it came time to change the channel, his dad would get up out of his chair, walk over to the tv, pick up the remote, change the channel, put the remote back on the tv and go back to his chair.

Well, it would be an effective exercise program.....

I hope you get your new remote soon. I don't know what I would do without it because my TV only operates with the remote. There is nothing on the TV to turn it on or off or find channels.

I have a tv but nothing to watch tv with on it unless i hook up the hdmi and cast it from the computer to the tv. otherwise i use it for dvds and my wii games. i usually stream programming on my laptop. i can't afford cable and those free tv antennas and boxes and whatever don't work here worth a darn. my tv remote battery cover is held on by tape. lol!
