I have always like the work of Waterhouse. They are my idea of truly fine art.
There are stories for each and every one of his paintings.
Many of those stories come from ancient Greek myths.

Yes, as I'm sure you already know, Waterhouse subscribed and was greatly influenced by The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

Many of his works depicted King Arthur Legends. As well as Greek Mythology.

I did look up Hylas and the Nymphs just now. That being said I will now look for around the house for a beautifully illustrated book I bought at a sale a long time ago but never opened. Inspired by the artwork shown here I will now do that. Lovely art.
