"We see that you're using an ad blocker". Do you unblock?

I have an ad blocker, because I don't want ads popping up, and I don't want those ads to keep popping up, when I'm on other sites. When I go to a news site, and they want me to unblock to view their content, I won't unblock. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like giving anything the right to put stuff on what I view. To me, it seems like any hacker could use that "unblocking" to get into my computer. Okay, I might be a bit paranoid. Yeah, times are financially tough for news organizations, but they've always been that way. I won't unblock the thing I expressly added to my computer. What's your take on the block/unblock issue? Do you unblock?

No!

A meme popped up in my FB feed the other day asking if FB cost $30.00/mo would I continue to use it.

I suppose that’s the question we all need to consider would we rather deal with the annoying advertising or pay a fee to access certain sites.

I’ll put up with the annoying advertisements.😊

Lately, it seems like more and more "news" sites, especially financial sites, are demanding that I "unblock". However, I have no problem finding the information I'm interested in on another site. I "unblocked" Barron's for a few days, months ago, and my E-mail Spam went way up. Needless to say, I returned that site to Blocked.

I'm on the record for hating advertising of all kinds. I LOVE ad blockers and use them all the time and for years. No, I don't unblock. I hate the pop ups and the very stressful video that they put on. Again, I LOVE ad blockers and will never stop using them.

If I were to say yes to unblocking, is it just for that site?
With AdBlockPlus, the one I use, I can unblock, read, then go and block the site again (the ads on the site.) I had to do that yesterday on a newspaper, I wanted to see the video, but had to unblock, which I did. After I watched the video I set it back to blocking the ads on that newspaper. By the way, their ads were unbelievable, hundreds and it made it difficult to read the articles.

Depends on the site.

If it's one I use regularly I will unblock they are entitled to be paid but if it's just a one off I don't normally.

I also regularly send donations to Wiki as I use that regularly.

I rarely if ever unblock, since unblocking can invite a variety of woes. If blocking renders a site non-functional, I’ll go elsewhere to accomplish my purpose in being there.

I NEVER unblock. If I can't borrow your football I'll play tennis instead.
