Weddings! Big, small, yours, others, love, hate.

I like going t o weddings - happy occasions and catching up with relatives.

Our own wedding was relatively small, I guess about 40 guests, (nearly 40 years ago, cant remember exactly) and we had reception in my parents backyard - they had a beautiful garden so that was a nice gathering place for a group that size.

I worked with a nurse, who mortgaged her paid off home to give her daughter a monster of a wedding. We're talking many tens of thousands $$$$$. Turns out the daughter wasn't the sex hubby preferred or was aroused by. Within a month, the marriage was annulled. The nurse had to work till she was 68 to pay off the loan.
I just can't see spending that kind of money for 1 day's activities.
None of my weddings were very expensive at all. I think the first wedding cost my parents about $200. The second wedding cost about 1000 and my third wedding cost 2500. None of those included the cost of the rings, however the only expensive ring I had was for the third wedding.

Only one of my sons is married and I contributed 2K towards his wedding. His dad contributed money, as did his new in-laws and they paid for the rest of it themselves. It was a nice wedding, but they didn’t get carried away either.

I just remembered- When my mother remarried after being widowed for 18 years I arranged and paid for her wedding. A simple affair, but lovely . How many daughters can say they paid for their mother’s wedding 😁

Our wedding took place at a church in a small Nebraska town.
Most of the guests were people from the Radar Site I was stationed at.
Reception was at the local Bar & Grill.

Held off on the Honeymoon, as I had orders to the UK and we figured that would work out nice.
