Weekend plans? What are you planning?

I don’t usually go out on weekends because, you know, retired. But sometimes there’s something I want to attend.

This Sunday there’s a presentation at the George Washington Carver National Park and there are some nice walking trails and I can take my doggies with me so that’s on my calendar.

Next Sunday is the matinee performance at the Joplin Little Theater of The Odd Couple and I have season tickets so I’ll be going out for that too.

This weekend I WILL do my taxes. It's not like last weekend, when I was supposed to do my taxes, or the weekend, before that one, and the weekend.............
My taxes are with the accountant now. I was supposed to get them back yesterday, but he called and said he was backed up.

If it was up to me, I may be late. Since I retired, I have become a great procrastinator.

I don’t usually venture out on the weekend.

Tomorrow the neighborhood streets will be closed for a half marathon from approximately sunrise ‘til noon.

It amazes me that the runners pay $150.00 for the privilege.

Do you know how many donuts I could buy for a $150.00. 😉🤭😂
It may be for a benefit. I used to run for causes, but nothing over 15K. I ran my last one about 3 years ago and that was a short race of 5K.

Those things make no sense to me.

I would rather just write the check and take a nap. 😉🤭😂
I used to run at least 3 times a week doing 3-5 miles, but as I got older, I cut it back until now when I don’t run at all. It’s a way to get both some limited exercise and cardio workout. Others prefer a treadmill, but if you’re going to run on a treadmill, you may as well run outside and get the benefits of the sun and somewhat fresh air. Our air here isn’t exactly 100% clean. Right now, our AQ is at 17 (good).

My longest marathon was a 30k or 18 miles. That was in an all ages in the same race, so I didn’t finish in first, but we had 61 runners and I did manage to come in at 29th place, which was good for me. We had a lot of younger people running, so I didn’t feel bad. I didn’t want to finish the race walking, like a few did, so I paced myself.

In our working lives we would pack so much into our weekends. My wife's work as a paramedic, meant weekend working as well as early start days, late finishes, nights, so we planned our social life around her shift pattern.

This coming weekend is going to be like old times, I worry that she will overdo it, but I know what the social aspect means to her. Some friends are gathering at a popular country inn this evening. One of our friends will be spinning records, (real vinyl ones) we hope to join them later.

Tomorrow we have been invited to a 60th birthday party at The Verwood Hub. It's a theatre come ballroom, a perfect place for wedding receptions. Chances are there will be a SwingTime band and a DJ, I have no idea what dress code he wants. That aside, we are looking forward to meeting up with lots of good friends.

Sunday we are dining out at lunchtime, then in the evening, at the same venue, The Sunday Jazz Club makes a welcome return.

Off to see 'Me and my girl' at the Tivoli theatre in Aberdeen. With only 450 seats, it's a small version of the His majesty's theatre and was designed by the same architect. In it's Heyday, the Tivoli hosted all the big stars of the time, but in later years fell into disrepair before being rescued and brought back to its original splendour.
