Weight loss with new meds

A year ago I was put on Jardiance, Entresto and Spironolactone by my cardiologist. I had a biventricular pacemaker installed last November.

In August 2024 I weighed 194. For the longest time that was my average weight. I then started to lose weight but didn't do anything really different exercise wise and diet wise. I now weigh 175. I asked my doctor and VA provider if the new meds were helping me lose weight and they said yes. I lost 5 pounds when we went to Italy but then again we did a lot of walking during 3 weeks over there.

So, I guess my question is has anyone else had weight loss with meds everything else being the same? I'm not diabetic so I'm not taking Ozempic. All my blood work is good to go. Maybe in the back of my mind, I'm thinking something else is going on but I feel fine and nothing alarming on my blood work. I see my doctors next month do I'll ask again what they think of my weight loss. Thanks for looking.

I lost a lot of weight on Jardiance, a few years ago. Now on Farxiga. Have diabetes. Most weight came off due to change in eating habits; I don't eat much anymore.

Yep, Jardience is one of the weight loss drugs.

Empagliflozin causes weight loss by making the kidneys excrete more sugar and calories from the body through urine, creating a slight calorie deficit.

I take spironolactone, Jardiance, and Ozempic along with several other medications to treat high blood pressure and diabetes.

I also walk about five miles a day, attempt to watch my diet, and monitor my blood sugar.

IMO Jardiance has had the biggest impact, for me, as a weight loss medication.

I’m still losing but not as dramatically as I was in the beginning.

From what I’ve read these medications are a lifetime commitment for most people.

So far, I haven’t had any noticeable side effects but I have no idea of possible long range effects or unintended consequences.

At 71, I’m not as concerned as I might be at age 21. 😉🤭😂

I lost almost 50 pounds when I was participating in a clinical trial for a liver medication that had a "weight loss factor", as they call it when they don't want to come out and call it a weight loss drug.

The trial ended in December '24 and, unfortunately, I've gained 30 of those pounds back.

My liver levels are still improved, though, so that's good.
