Weird weather stuff in your back yard.

I've been here about 30 years. And I noticed some things. At first I saw that it rained in the front of my home and not in the back- OK, passing shower. But this happens several times a year, and for 30 years. Don't know why. The wind, here, can be unbelievable. This is the 4th front storm door I had. You open the door and the wind catches it, rips it out of your hand, and will yank the door out of its hinges. But the wind is just around my area-there's no wind advisory. When it snows I get huge snow drifts over my driveway- 4,5, 6 feetare not uncommon. Yet, 20 feet away from my driveway, the grass is peeking out of the snow. Every year this happens.

I've related here about when I was out during a rainstorm, late at night. Sitting at a red light, it was not raining in the intersection, or on the other side of the traffic lights.

Do you live on Skinwalker Ranch?

First things I thought after reading your post: have you kept a diary or log of these events? and, have you asked any of your neighbors if they've noticed these anomalies about your place?

If so, maybe you could contact a meteorologist (like the weather guy on your nearest TV channel), see if he'd be interested to look into this. If so, he might be able to corroborate the basic facts of your peculiar situation by talking with a neighbor or two.

In my province in Canada this would be feasible. The broadcasters are often willing to go for a new angle.

I am near Rochester NY, not all that far from PA. This weekend I am scared we will have another flood and I will lose everything in my basement like I did in July of this year. I have lived here for 14 years and every year I experience more and more weird weather phenomena.

We haven’t had much snow this year. Or last year….yet we are in a flood zone and the creek in my backyard is running at an all time high. I listen to the weather and they say NY is in a moderate drought. Not in my back yard. I mow my lawn right through November. No snow til after January. Wind? Oh yeah. We sort of laugh (cry) about it in NY. It’s either windy or gray or raining.

I think, NYLady, you are experiencing the sort of regional anomalous weather that many others of us are, in our own regions. Some shifts away from former normal patterns of fluctuation. That seems to be occurring in very many regions of the world. We're experiencing that here where I live.

I think what fuzzybuddy is talking about is a different sort of thing. In that case, it's seemingly inexplicable rain & wind patterns peculiar to one home property... over a three-decade period.

Your situation brings to mind when I was young (had to be under 10) and we were walking home from school. We saw it raining fairly hard on the opposite side of the street from where we were walking. That's the first time I'd ever seen something like that. I've heard similar stories from others when I got older. I guess the rain must start and end somewhere. What's happening around your home is remarkable though, since it's been happening like that for decades.

Our timeshare resort at the "end" of the boardwalk in Atlantic City feels like it's in a wind tunnel when it gets a bit windy. One time I was there and it actually sounded like what they say a tornado sounds like, so I stayed vigilant. Once it was so windy that the heavy drapes were blowing and the sliding balcony door was completely closed. The patio furniture also got knocked around. Replacing screens must be quite an expense...too bad you have to keep doing that.
