Well it was only a matter of time...Don't say you didn't wonder about them.....self driving (assisted)cars

TV news coverage commented that this isn’t uncommon. To trick the steering wheel into thinking there’s a driver, a full water bottle is duct taped to the wheel.

The penalties have to be higher.

I cannot imagine having the confidence, or should I say stupidity, to trust such new technology that's proven to fail on and off, and is not 100% foolproof yet.

The problem seems to be human nature. I have been on the board (most of the time, president) of our 72 unit condo association for about 30 years. With the exception of a few recent families with kids moving in, the population is adults. People are constantly pulling crap with no regard for the the impact on people around them. We have to catch them on the security cameras and confront them for doing stupid things.

The subject of this thread is no surprise to me. It only confirms that the problem is global, rather than just our little population here.

So the question becomes, how much rope (freedom) do we give people to hang themselves and the people they impact with thier actions, and how much should we legislate to prevent them from doing so?

Ideally, we would want to trust that by the time people reach adulthood, they have the maturity to conduct themselves in a responsible manner. However, the reality falls far short of that, as has been demonstrated again and again throughout human history.

I would never own one, and it bothers me that they are out there. It's flat out irresponsible.

I sincerely believe the average motorist looks upon the self driving vehicle concept as the cats meow but cats supposedly have 9 nine lives but humanity doesn't posses such a mythical capability as Mr. musk touts and other automakers falsely copycat (No pun intended there).
