Saturday when I lost internet access, I called and "froze" my CC in order to avoid
anything being charged to it....Now I got the pc fixed yesterday, and called to get
the "freeze" taken off....upshot is the dorks on the phone's tell me they cannot send
me a "text code" to get into my account to "unfreeze" it !!!!! what???? WHT is
going on, they didn't need to text me a code to Freeze the thing, now why another
need to Unfreeze it!!!! I don't know what to do now........da## it all.......

Call them back and ask what needs to be done. I had to verify who I was by answering security questions such as DOB, place of birth, mothers maiden name, all of these were questions I chose to be answered by me when my account was set up.
I answered all of their questions, did everything, and yet THEY CANNOT send me a code thru my cell phone, hell that's not
my fault and I told them so...!!!

Grab yourself a cup of tea or something and settle down some.
The great thing is this: if any money goes missing, it’s the banks responsibility. It’s their responsibility to make sure you have access to your accounts too so don’t sweat it.
It’s ALL fixable.

It is unclear to me why losing Internet access would have anything whatsoever to do with fraudulent charges being made to your credit card?? If my home Internet goes down I just wait for the service to come back on. Meanwhile I still have Internet access to my bank via my smart phone. For people who have neither a working Internet connection nor a smart phone, I don't see any reason to put a hold on my CC?? Getting these 'holds' removed is usually a royal pain in the ass. I would never do this in the absence of a suspected fraudulent transaction, especially nowadays with the embedded chip in most credit cards that has effectively reduced credit card fraud to near zero.

I'm also not understanding why you froze your card because your internet dropped. Was there some chain of events that had you suspicious?

The bank probably has protocols in place that need followed when it comes to activating a frozen card. Did you ask what they are? Find out so next time there's no delay.

Welp, after a bowl of ice cream, I called back and asked for
customer service supervisor...after waiting a long time listening
to some weird music, she came on and I explained the problem I was having....she asked a few questions, and wala she fixed the
issue herself....but i did discover that my cell operates on a
different phone system than the one they had and so I could
not get their code messages from them...so all is well but
i must admit to getting rather angry for awhile....thanks for
letting me vent....now where is that ice cream.....

I'm so glad to hear you got this straightened out, @hawkdon ! I absolutely hate when those things happen and I hate even worse having to fix them. 🄺 As for the ice cream... I have a feeling "someone" here may be hoarding it. Don't tell 🤫 but @timoc seems a likely suspect.

I had a bit of a scare with the bank two weeks ago. I had my husbands name taken off our joint account and put solely in my name and closed his Visa account.

When the Visa bill rolled in I pay in full online and checked the next few days online to make sure the payment went through.

Payment did not go through, long story short I was worried I was out over $970.00 But the bank quickly checked and within 3 days the money was returned. Somehow it was going into closed account payment instead of mine.....sigh of relief.

Oh my, that must have been so frightening, @Lee ! I try to tell myself that banks and CC companies will need to fix errors that come up, but it's torture waiting for them to do that! :(

Hoarding!!!! Hoarding!!!! Kate, I'm wounded. One is only an ice cream hoarder if one has 200 ton of it in one's possesion, I rarely have no more that about 8 tubs in my freezer. Hoarding!!!! Ha. 😊

Like others, I was wondering what losing internet access had to do with you feeling the need to freeze your card (??). The only thing I could think of is maybe you had a bill that was due to be paid automatically and you could not go in and stop that payment. Anyway, I'm glad it was resolved and like me...that kind of stress definitely requires ice cream. :)
