Were you ever in a Bowling League?

How good a 'bowler' were you?

Your 'average'?

Decades ago I was on a team where I worked. We didn't have bowling shirts and stuff though. But some teams did.
It was a fun time with work friends and pizza and beer.
Don't remember the details or how it was figured, but after a baseline average score was established, a handicap was figured in. Maybe like in golf or something. Anyway, I was only a mediocre bowler ... with a pretty good handicap.
Good Times !!!

I was. It was a league for oldsters, and there were really old people who had a hard time navigating. It took forfreakingever and very tiresome waiting for people to actually get up out of a chair just to get their ball. After two seasons, I gave it up because it took hours and hours, almost long enough to nap until I was up again. Yawn.

Sometimes bowl for fun. My ball and shoes are still in a corner in DSIL's office. He's GM at a bowling center that's part of a big chain.

I was in 2 leagues: the first when a teenager, which was a blast. I don't remember my average, but once I bowled a 203 game, for which I got a trophy.

My second league was as a married woman, with my husband and a couple of friends. It was horribly competitive, with really gnarly guys saying nasty shit to throw us off our game. I got so freaked out I couldn't even walk up to roll the ball, and eventually quit.

And in later years I took my kids bowling a lot. They loved it.

When I was around twenty I started bowling on a winter league with my friends family, mom, dad, brother, sister, the full group. Truthfully I had a lot of fun even though I was hesitant to join at first. I was an OK bowler but lacked consistency, I think my average was in the 160s but was capable of bowling a 130, or on a good night breaking 200.

When we all had young families a group of us joined a parents/kids league, I enjoyed that more than the adult league.

W as in a singles group leage..with who would end my DH..he was v.gd.
I was average
it was fun
Then after we married..was in a Couples

It was fun, too.

Not a frequent bowler, average was about 60. My wife was in a bowling league, she was good but quit bowling after her first cancer in 2002.
