Western Sizzlin restaurant = Yuck !

Mama and I have our favorite places to eat out but yesterday evening we thought we'd try the Western Sizzlin buffet for the heck of it.......big mistake !

Everything we sampled (including the deserts) was bland, greasy, over cooked and just plain awful and within a hour of leaving we both had to take a 20 mg Pepcid for the heartburn.

All of our old favorites are sit down order off the menu type restaurants.......no more buffets for us.

Haven't eaten there in years. But did eat a lot of buffets at lunch in my working days. Quick way to get in and out. But like you, not a big fan of buffets in general.

Here where I live, we have a variety of good buffets. Everything from traditional food, to Chinese/Vietnamese/Indian/Italian.

Don't blame all buffets by just the one bad one, but I will say I am a bit leery of food sitting out in the open, being coughed and sneezed upon.

Ike, I see you're in OK. I was in OKC once and was treated to buffet at The Golden Corral and it was fine. The variety was great.

I don't like to go to buffets with people coughing and sneezing all over the food and putting their dirty hands on it and then putting it back. Hot food might be okay but I avoid salad bars like the plague.

The food line is perfectly 100% safe even if a person coughs or sneezes, didn't you see the high tech plastic "sneeze guard" over the food ?

We got there around 5:15 p.m. and I was surprised to see A LOT of seniors coming and going but this senior will only be GOING.

There is a Golden Corral within two miles of the house and we've never eaten there and I'm darn near positive we won't now.

That's smart. There was a story and I can't remember where I saw it or if it was a fake or what, but it goes like this....

There was some very small town with I think less than 2,000 population. An election was coming up and the candidate running against the known favorite sabotaged the town's only buffet restaurant the night before and the day of the election by poisoning the food just enough to cause the customers to become too ill to go out to vote.

Since less people voted, that candidate won the election over the favorite

About the only time we eat at a buffet is when we are at the Casinos. Their food is usually outstanding, and with our perks, it is free....but, of course, we pay a premium price for those perks while gambling.

The wife and I went to the new Golden Coral when they opened in our area..NEVER AGAIN!!! Kids running unchecked touching and digging and putting food back in the buffets!! When leaving we complained to the manager and he staed he would see what he could do (??)..Never returned..

We did go to one in Branson Mo. (entertainment town) and had a wonderful experience although we were skeptical upon entering..
