Wet Stuff

After months of heat and sunshine, the rains have finally returned to the Pacific NorthWET. My downspouts are gurgling merrily once again and the trees are all sighing in relief. We natives of SW WA State do not do well in a drought. I was beginning to worry about my well but thankfully rain is in the forecast for the coming week.......and longer.

given the way the weather pattern has been this last 3 years.. and especially this year.. you're either going to get floods or draught.. never seems to be anything middling..
I'm afraid you're right. And since we've had draught for several years, I bet we get even more of it. Most of the western part of the U.S. was always dry. When the migrations from the East Coast started across, it had been an unusually wet few years and the newcomers kept trying to establish farms and planting crops they shouldn't. The natives (and a few Europeans descendants of furtrappers, etc.) kept trying to warn them that this rainfall is unusual, it won't last, don't plant that stuff but they didn't listen. And even the U.S. gov't. was also mistaken; even after the natural dry weather had set back in, they dug up some scientists who said, "The rain follows the plow", just keep planting and hoping for rain. Silly humans.
