What’s the most unforgettable coastline/beach you’ve visited, and why?

For me it would be Assateague because there are horses. There are horses that sometimes hang out on the beach. You can't get too close to them because they're wild and they will bite you, but they are so cool. They roam the entire island and especially like to spend time by campfires because the smoke keeps the bugs away.

What's yours?

The beach at Ardrossan, South Australia, where my best friend lives. We walked along, picking up seaweed, while her little dog ran along beside us. They had a summer home there, and since have had a permanent house built, right across from the beach.

Oh lord Pinks I didn't know there was an Ardrossan in Australia...blimey it couldn't be more different to the original in Scotland..lol

I've visted many beaches.. I have a property just minutes from the beach in Spain, and many beaches have been lovely that I've visted throughout Europe , my daughter has visited the Maldives, with it's stunning beaches ... but none have been spectacular that I've visted ... I'd love to visit the beaches of NZ

About 38 years ago my wife and I wound up on a beach in the Bahamas on a little island that belonged to Robert Abplanalp. He was a buddy of Richard Nixon's and built a "little White House" where Nixon went when he stepped down in disgrace.

The sand was white and the water was so clear that you could see your toes while you were standing in waist-deep water.

I don't go to beaches much anymore as I try to stay out of direct sunlight.

I've seen many a beautiful beach, but, the most unforgettable would have to be the coastline on the Salton Sea.
Old adds wanted you to believe it was the perfect vacation spot. However, since it has no outlet and the Mexican waste flows in the New River, (along with all residual fertilizer from surrounding farms), it soon became one of the stinky-ist (lots of dead fish) bodies of water on the planet.

Cannon Beach, Oregon, has Haystack Rock which is a rock more than 200 feet high that you can go out and walk around at very low tides. I tried it once (in the summer), never getting more than hip deep but had to give up because the water was so cold I truly couldn't feel my legs.

The next day I had what felt like flu-like aches and pains and was sick for three days. I think I got my core temperature so low that I really messed myself up.

It's a gorgeous sight, though. In fact, I think Oregon has the most gorgeous coastal sights of anyplace.

I also like Cannon Beach, Oregon. One of my nieces was married there and it was just lovely. Too bad about your aches and pains after visiting.

Casey Key in the 60s. Stephen King has a house there now. My dad owned a business on the intracoastal water way near it.s-l400.jpg this is the area we stayed in, fished in and swam in. It was heaven to a teenager back then..... my dads business was just south and east of this about 200 yards....

I spent 2 winters living out of my truck on the beaches of Baja, Mexico therefore those are the most memorable to me.

2nd has to be the beaches in Normandy, France for it's historical significance and what it represents for state of the world post WW2. I had been beaten down in Paris for several days by the locals, but when I returned to Paris I was filled w pride in the sacrifices that the Allies made, including my father and most of my uncles during WW2.

I do most want to visit and live on the beaches in Africa, India, or Australia, but doubt that will ever happen.

Honorable mentions: Cape Cod, Jersey shore(where I grew up), south shore of Long Island, SoCal, NoCal, OR, WA, AK, HI, and the Bahamas.
