What A Perfect Day It Is.

For the first time since we had to send Marley over the Rainbow Bridge, I decided to not just sit in a rocker on the porch for a spell, but take one of our long walks through our lovely grounds for a change.

At the end of August, here in New Jersey, the mornings are generally cool, slightly breezy, and most refreshing. That is, if the weather is clear and sunny with little humidity to notice. Today is one of those days.

Our grounds are beautifully landscaped with the most colorful flowers and well-placed. Our vegetable garden is still producing and all the birds are tweeting sweet melodies. Butterflies sit alongside me on the bench beneath the pergola, and even the occasional bee doesn't land to investigate.

However, my heartstrings are still pulling me in several directions, since I did not have my faithful companion of the last 10 years at my side. I even started talking out loud as though she were there, and caught myself before being dragged off to a looney bin.

However, I will continue these long walks throughout October as long as our skies and temps permit. What a great day.

First of all you have my condolences. I know the feelings of loss quite well too and am very sorry you're going through it. I've been trying to remember the good times we had. For me it helps some.

It's great you can get out there and enjoy that beautiful place you went to. I have a goal to take a walk one of these days too. Hopefully I will do that too. Take care ❤️

It's not a nice day today, Ruthanne, but each time it is I'll take that walk again, as in the past. I can be soul cleansing as well. Bless you. hugs.

You inspire me to get my walk in my day also. I keep saying I am going to walk today but for some reason or other don't do it. Just lazy I guess. It is starting to rain now, but if it stops I am going to go for that walk. I miss walking in the parks and have no excuse not to.

We have lost so many dogs Lois... 2 years ago we lost 2 on the same day..it was beyond heartbreaking, and my DD has really not recovered from it...

We have one buried here in my garden our beloved elder Labradoodle scruff age 13..... eldest of the 3 doodles.. and the 2 younger ones died on the same day.. age 15 and 14... about 4 years later

We lost a tiny rescue terrier..pablo.. when he was run over on the mountain track by a jeep....

All..gone to rainbow bridge..hopefully playing together.. but they leave a huge hole in the heart, because they loved without question ....... so I feel your pain 🤗
