What a slap in the face,' for Maine's taxpayers and homeless

But he allows rent increases and utility increases. He doesn't care about the people.

I doubt a governor of a state controls those things, unless perhaps the state legislature passed a law about it and the governor vetoed it?

I've read different arguments about rent caps. My only personal experience was when I was young and lived in a town that had a 10% rent increase cap, and what happened was that the apartment complex jacked up the rent 10% per year. But I have no way of knowing what the increases would have been without the cap. It felt like the management treated it as a goal instead of a cap.

yes it was working until the current administration decided to let the remain in mexico policy expire.
In February, 2023 MX refused to continue to participate in the remain in MX rule.

The RIM rule was replaced by the Circumvention of Lawful Pathways Rule which has been in court.

ALERT: Court Order on Circumvention of Lawful Pathways Final Rule

"On Aug. 3, 2023, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a stay of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California’s order in East Bay Sanctuary Covenant v. Biden, 18-cv-06810 (N.D. Cal.), vacating the Circumvention of Lawful Pathways (CLP) rule. At this time and while the stay remains in place, USCIS will continue to apply the CLP rule.

Under the rule, certain individuals who enter the United States through its southwest land border or adjacent coastal borders are presumed to be ineligible for asylum, unless they can demonstrate an exception to the rule or rebut the presumption. Individuals are encouraged to use lawful, safe, and orderly pathways to come to the United States."

I don't know but I have heard from an attorney who knows a lot about Pacific Gas & Electric (the evil corporation blamed for the deadly Paradise Camp Fire and others) that Newsom is in their pocket.

I'm just tired of hearing about this affordable housing rhetoric and it's not really put in place. I'm still looking for a mobile in a park and the senior park rentals are going up. They are going to price some people out of the ability to eat

We at least have some rent control. Other states have nothing. And you are right, it is goal, not a need. These are not mom and pop rental owners we a duplex or house or two, these are huge corporations. I don't have one bit of empathy or sympathy for their expenses and upkeep. They are max greed profit.
