What about chow hall food

More mess hall drama:

SP6 (later SSG C.) was my shift leader. Another Vietnam vet, married and with two children, he had always been within food service and definitely knew his stuff. I learned a lot from him cooking-wise, but I also learned from him what NOT to do. You see, there was a female cook on our same shift named Chris. She was a bit of a dish, but she also knew how to game the males around her. She spread her wares around, one of them being a guy that exited military service about the time I got there.

Chris and SSG C. became an item, up to and including her occasionally hanging out in the house that three of us had rented out, including SSG C., Radar (a dead ringer from the MASH actor Gary Burghoff), and myself. (Don't worry, there were plenty of bedrooms going around).

One story SSG C. told me that early on one Sunday morning when we weren't scheduled to work, Chris decided to fry up some bacon. He warned us not to fry bacon in the nude. I wonder why . . .

SSG did run into some issues with the battalion CSM. I don't know what became of that -- as it should be.
