We don't have great impressionists any more. I remember the likes of Mike Yarwood as being the best entertainment back in time. It is now a neglected aspect of comedy I think.
I like Spitting Images but actually prefer the classic standup comedian who performs with no need of props.
Actually it is a great and delightful ability. I had a cousin once and we loved her ability to mimic us, she had us in stitches with her ability to observe our little ways, our voices.
It's so funny how we have our unique mannerisms and feel so strange if they are pointed out and exaggerated.
I worked with a colleague once who could do great impressions. One day he was mimicking our boss but didn't notice the boss had walked into the room behind him. It was the kind of moment you never forget as everyone was laughing so much as he eventually turned round - even the boss was amused.
So, do we have any good impressionists these days?
