What are responders on Quora so abusive?

Every time I ask a question I get responses like: "Are you so stupid you don't know the answer?", "What planet are you from?", "Are you high on drugs?" or "This must be the dumbest question ever asked here."

Sheesh!
On Quora? Wow. I have had some nasty responses on reddit when I made a topic there once to ask a question. Didn't know they were also nasty on Quora. Anyone can just be nasty anonymous nowadays I guess. Sad.

Quora people often respond with their opinions stated as fact which will drive you crazy. I left there a long time ago.
I ask my questions of Gemini or Copilot and follow up by checking their sources.

Pepper is right, don't go there. Social media bullies are hurtful because they are, quite simply, pathetic cowards who lack the courage to face someone in real life. They hide behind screens and fake accounts, using the internet as a shield to spew repulsive poison because they are too insecure and emotionally stunted to handle actual, face-to-face human interaction.

As Quora stands for questions and answers you would think people would be more respectful of others. If they do not like the question, they could just pass by, ignoring it.
I like Quora. I have been there for a number of years but I joined healthy, friendly spaces where people care for each other. I like the multilingual part of it, it gives me the possibility to continue to practice my knowledge of different languages and it brings me back to my childhood culture.
I agree with gruntlabor that some answers given on certain subjects are often opinion instead of a fact, better to check with copilot or AI.

I love having an AI assistant that I can ask questions. It provides the sources that it bases its answers on and allows you to ask follow-up questions. And it's never rude! You don't have to worry about asking a "stupid" question or getting insulted for not knowing something. And you can have it summarize articles that are overly wordy, which is great if you have poor eyesight or difficulty concentrating like I do.

It's the anonymity of the internet. They know they will never have to face you in person. So they say shit to you they never would dare to in person. I'm guilty of that myself sometimes. ;)
