What are responders on Quora so abusive?

Quora, Reddit, etc. etc. ... full of people who hide behind a computer and take out their frustrations on other people. I suspect there are a lot of young people who have no respect for their elders - and or, just a bunch of trolls!

I tried Reddit for awhile, even the Senior section - the mods were jerks! I couldn't even ask a question... I got banned from the Onion sub reddit - because I said I liked onion powder - now that one was hilarious.

I found SF ---- out looking for some alternative to Reddit etc., and woohoo! I found all you wonderful people!

Hard as heck to find nice people on the internet!

That could also go for a newspaper, a message board, and a forum (I don't want to hog space in this thread, but will try to put details and info together to start another thread)- however, the worst of the worst (of my experiences) did not come from young people, they came from 'seniors.'

Every time I ask a question I get responses like: "Are you so stupid you don't know the answer?", "What planet are you from?", "Are you high on drugs?" or "This must be the dumbest question ever asked here."

Because it's the internet, and it takes more work to be "normal" and civilized than it does to be flippant and rude. As soon as you put yourself out there, you're inviting both the best and the worst into the room. The worst vastly outnumber the best. Which is why we need discernment.
