What are you cooking or baking today?

Lucky me - she flew in on the 3rd and leaves on the 14th. The old saw is often true about guests and fish stinking after three days, but not in her case. We've always enjoyed an easy rhythm - nothing forced. Sometimes we chat for hours on end, others we are both immersed in our respective books. DH is also very comfortable with her in the house.

A photo of the remaining muffins. We made a dozen a couple of days ago. I find muffins and quick breads don't get slimy if they're only lightly covered with plastic wrap. These are holding up well.

You seem to get along with just about everyone so it doesn’t surprise me that you’d get along great with your sister. I wish I had a sister. Then again, I have a brother I get along great with.

Your muffins look delicious Starsong.
Thanks for the picture.

Yes! It has mushrooms and green olives in it. It has a lot of other toppings too but they got covered in cheese.
Hmmm.... I've never considered putting green olives on pizza. My granddaughter likes a pizza with black olives though.
Regular black olives don't do anything for me, but I do love kalamatas as well as green olives.

I love green olives and black olives on pizza. We just went with what we had at the time. I would have added some pineapple if we had it but we didn’t have any.

Have another good few days with your sister.
What a treat that must be for both of you.

Cookies. My husband was shocked. I don’t make cookies and I’ve done it twice in 6 months. Yesterday I found one recipe online from my favourite 1970s cookbook. So today I made Thumbprint Cookies filled with raspberry jam. Visually they weren’t perfect. Sure did taste good.

Tonight I searched and found similar recipes that I think would work a little better. Maybe there’ll be more cookies within six months.

Yesterday I made a big pot of lentil soup (dry brown lentils, green enchilada sauce, curry powder, broth, celery, carrots and I can't remember what else). Froze about a third of it. Can't recall how I concocted the recipe originally over a decade ago, but it tastes great and is a favorite of DH's.

Speaking of freezing soups, over time I've accumulated about a dozen of these containers from take-out and I don't know what-all else. Some are 32 oz, some 16 oz. They sure are handy for freezing soup and other liquids. I don't MW them - just let them defrost in the fridge or dump the frozen glob into a bowl and nuke it in that.

Did the key lime pie not turn out?

Sicilian Green Castelvetrano Olives

These brine-preserved olives, with their distinctive mild and buttery flavor, serve as the perfect complement to a variety of occasions.
