What Are You Doing New Year's Eve (tomorrow night)?

Well thank goodness I only took 15 mins rest instead of an hour and got back on with the cleaning. The forecast was wrong the torrential rain started at 2pm and not 5pm...and now at 2.30pm it's as dark as night because of the storm...

I got my kitchen finished , it's all sparkling and shiny... and I even got the bathrooms done as well... but that's enough now, my back is literally breaking..,

Delivery man is 8 stops away.. he;ll be getting drenched in this rain...

I've been to a N.Y's party once in my life. Only because I could walk there. Long ago I promised on only drive on N.Y. night if I was working. The crazies are out in force on this and a weekend Halloween. I usually sit at the TV with a coke and bag of chips until I can't stay awake any longer. The ball drop was always sort of a too tired to pop event for me. Glad when it was over, and now to bed. Love NY Day morning to watch the Rose Parade and glitter, then to the football games and pals to watch them with rather than in bed, hung over. Happy NY Eve and Day everyone.👌

My parents always observed the new year, "first footing" and all, And it wasn't a 'proper' evening if Andy Stewart, Kenneth McKellar et al weren't on TV. We've never really bothered with it. New year will come along whether I'm awake or asleep - and I plan to be asleep.
Even our neighbour who usually celebrated with her family said that she couldn't be bothered any more. So, we'll be doing nothing, except raising a glass of single malt and wishing ourselves a 'Happy new year'.

"Tae us
Wha's like us?
Damned few and they're a' deid"

That photo is beautiful, but definitely ominous. Take care, be safe and have a Happy New Year Holly!

We never go anywhere on New Years Eve.....let the drunks have the roads. Todays weather is quite chilly, so I will be watching the football games, and replays of Yellowstone on the Paramount channel. I doubt we will still be awake at Midnight to watch any of the fireworks displays. I just hope there aren't any Lunatic attacks on the huge crowds in the cities.

My uncle Ken by Marriage... :)... not many people knew he was a trained Opera singer but he really hated it...

Every new years eve we'd watch Uncle Ken and Andy Stewart , Rikki fulton, Jack MIlroy... , Moira Anderson ( whose mother-in-law lived next door to us)

My granny took me to see Francie and Josie at the theatre when I was a kid.. it all went straight over my head..

Scots are very superstitious at least back in the day, so regardless of what was going on we had to carry out the usual tradition with whisky, coal, first footin'.. and fruitcake ...so we kids would be sound asleep and we'd be woken before the bells to do all that..

I'll be home listening to the neighbors' apparent reenactment of the bombing of Dresden, which started last night and will continue for a few days until they either blow a hand off, run out of fireworks or drink up all their beer.

The Spousal Equivalent will, as usual, go to bed at 9:30. I will watch TV as the Waterford Crystal ball thingy drops and then will or will not go in and give his inert head a New Year's kiss. He may or may not wake up and mutter, "What? What?" I will take that as an endearment.

There you go.....that's my exciting New Year's plans.
You have a way with words!:p

Aye First Footing... 😂😋😸 The expected Amazon Delivery from my secret Santa. The one who included a note, telling me package will be delivered round 10-11 January 2024. Yup! So, the delivery person will show up at our door. Funky footing, yeah!

I have a neighbor who's custom is to run down the street and back with suitcases at midnight on New Year’s Eve. The idea is that this ushers in an adventurous year to come. Plus, it starts the year off with an energetic bang.

We may attend a small gathering with friends, that is within a mile of our home. We don't like being out and about on the night of fools.

Just our usual evening at home. Just kidding. Could you imagine sitting around with your long white gloves.

I need to find a picture of someone in her nightgown.
Unrelated to New Year's Eve, but your picture, specifically the young lady on the left in the light colored dress, brought back a flood of memories from 50 or so years ago. Literally took my breath away. Damn.
