What are you grateful for?

My list would be so long and being wealthy is sure not been something I can list.
My needs are taken care of, I have people I can go to who are there for a laugh or a serious conversation.
The one thing I have always been grateful for most, my sense of humor: it has served me well and helped me carry on.

I'm grateful for being alive now, at this particular point in history.

If I'd been born a hundred years earlier (1850 instead of 1950) I would probably been through at least 1 world war, and possibly 2. I would have grown up in a world where toilets were still very rudimentary and personal hygiene was a very low priority. Doctors were totally ignorant in comparison with those alive today, not to mention that most people couldn't afford to go to a doctor anyway. Also dentistry was still very much in its infancy, so I'd probably have a mouth full of gums instead of clean teeth.

Add to all the above that I could not have been as mobile as I've been throughout my life, as I've owned bicycles, motorbikes, cars, etc since I was around 7 years old. I've also been able to watch international events on a TV screen, that I could not have watched in the 1800s and early 1900s.

I would also have been very poor by now, but thanks to state old age pensions, universal healthcare, and all the other things I've taken for granted throughout my life, such as free universal education, I can sit here at my own computer in my own home, and type this while reading through my bifocal glasses, in a heated room, while watching the cold wet weather outside through draught free double glazed windows.

So I have a lot to be thankful for.

I daily express gratitude for my life. I was easily on track for a short life or a life of incarceration but managed to change course.

Sometimes I don't feel I deserve the life I've had, I've known joy, experienced love, children, security and comfort, success, friends, community, and decent health.

While my life hasn't been perfect I am truly grateful for all the moments of good that have filled my days.

I;m grateful after a terrible early start in life.. that ultimately things got better for me... took a long time but it happened...

I'm grateful that God has allowed me to live to see my daughter grown, middle aged, financially healthy, and living a good life...this was a worry I had all the time she was growing up, and I used to pray to God to let me be here until she was old enough to cope alone without me !

I'm grateful that my daughter has never got involved with bad people...drugs, alcohol or any of life's addictions...

I'm grateful I live in a beautiful relatively crime free area....

I'm grateful for kind neighbours...

I'm grateful I survived after being involved in a near fatal car crash, which caused my car to turn onto it's roof 3 times on the motorway... just 6 months ago... grateful also for the emergency services who got me out of the car and into hospital.. and I;m grateful...more than grateful for the 2 Plastic surgeons who worked on me at 2am the following morning... to save my hand and arm ..

What are you grateful for?

I'm ever so grateful for, erm, erm, erm, what was it now, this happens to you when you're getting on in your 80s, hold on, it's just there at the back of my mind, it's on the tip of my whatsit, or did I write it down on a piece of paper, sometimes I wrap an elastic band around my wrist to remind me. Well, whatever it was, I'm really, really grateful. 😊
