What are you listening to in 2023?

If you already know Moby's Extreme Ways you might find this reprise rendition quite different and expressive of aging. It has slowed down and become more pained.

 
Here's another aging "broken boy." Scary the way Billy comes out on stage looking like some sort of swollen cyborg or something.


These guys are like a generation behind most of us, in some cases two. I could chase these down all day but two are rough enough. They aren't quite Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt" but they are getting up there in pain.
 
I didn't think I could enjoy any version so much as the original studio release (with the outstanding, unforgettable guitar solo by Jesse Ed Davis). But the track by this assembly of first-rate musical contributors blew me away. (The original still stands up.)

I really appreciate the on-screen credit for each artist as they were introduced. You can probbly search out more of these, but here is another taste:

So many memories out there! This song has a sadness to it that fits so many occasions. A teacher down the street sang this last year at the nearby elementary school's "5th grade graduation."


He says he was a bit embarrassed by the applause and tears when he finished.
