"Inuyasha" is a series about the modern day teenager Kagome who is transported back to feudal era Japan. There she comes to awaken the half-human half-dogdemon Inuyasha.

Inuyasha is confused, because Kagome reminds him so much of her distant ancestor Kikyo, whom he had a falling out with. Kikyo had pinned him to a tree and put him into an eternal slumber 50 years previously.

Kikyo's younger sister Kaede is now old, but tries to guide Kagome and provides her with a mechanism to keep Inuyasha from losing control.

Adventures ensue, with many dangers and conflicts as they meet new companions, new threats, and undertake new missions. Before long however Inuyasha and Kagome realize they are in love.
