It does have a Beach Boys backing vocal sound but the personnel list doesn't name anybody from the Beach Boys.

Bruce Hornsby on Jerry's final days. Apparently Jerry had been dry for several weeks and in rehab. A few days after leaving rehab, he decided to do whatever drug it was that he had been addicted to. Well, when you're using drugs regularly, you build up a tolerance for them and you need higher dosages. When you don't use for a while, your tolerance goes back down. That's why it killed him. The same thing happened to Janis Joplin.
