What Are You Stocked Up On?

I'm not worried about America, for the most part, so I haven't stocked up any more than I normally have. If I'm wrong I'll just adapt and use less than I need. I'll start a garden. It's about time we all take better care of our planet anyway....some do already and kudos to them.

Me too, jujube! 🤣 Here's how it happens...only comes in pkgs of 8. So I ordered Black first because I have black shorts, slacks and dress. After arriving, I thought of a pair of white capris I wear so then ordered a pkg of 8 White. But later thought beige would have been better because it's "skin color" and would blend in best. So I ordered a pkg of 8 beige...now I have 24! Not counting all the ones I had before which are perfectly good but new styles are in now.

They are predicting a coffee shortage, also a rise in price. How long would your coffee last? If it has a long shelf life, I would stock up, if not for a year, at least a few months.
 
I also bought 1,000 nutrile (non latex) gloves and 500 - 4 mil pinch close bags from Amazon. These are items I use daily for disposing of litter waste. I may use 2 - 3 gloves a day and the bags are also for other use. I expect those items to last at least a year.

The reasons I stock up (it is not hoarding) are as follows:
~We shop at Costco. Many things come in bulk packaging.

~When Costco has items on sale, we take advantage of that. Some items like their baby wipes only go on sale once or twice a year. Other items seem to have a cycle of 3 to 4 months.

~I buy in bulk when it saves me money. For instance those gloves would have cost $30 more if I had bought them in lesser quantities at a time. In some instances, price hikes don't affect me for a year.

~Since I don't drive, I want to make it easier for my son, who sometimes works long hours and has busy weeks. Buying more than a couple of items at a time makes sense to save him from having to run to the stores so often.

So, when I came permanently home, I was weak, unable to drive and I had nothing to eat. The county welfare office brought me sandwiches. I made sure that wouldn't happen again.

Seeing your stock of Chef Boyardee reminds me of when I used to stock up on the ravioli. Our local supermarket often has it on sale. But the last few cans I bought didn't taste as good as in the past, so I got off that kick. I buy the beef ravioli instead of the spaghetti and meatballs because the latter contains pork (in the meatballs) and the ravioli does not. One thing about it Fuzzy is that in a pinch you can certainly just pop open a can and not even have to heat it if you just don't have enough strength to pull out a pot and wait for it to heat up.

I keep a couple cans of Chef Boyardee beef ravioli on the emergency shelf too.

It’s a holdover from the days when I was young and broke.

The same with inexpensive Banquet pot pies or Banquet chicken nuggets with French fries from the $tore.

Clothes, most of which are not essential, like fifty-odd Aloha shirts. There's no need to buy any, my talented wife makes most of what I wear. Sometimes I get asked: "Do you think that will ever come back into fashion?" But by and large most remarks are very complimentary. Deservedly so given the effort and skill that my lady puts into everything that she makes.
 
Lets see, have plenty of shower gel and shampoo for a while. I have tons of those moistened "butt wipes". I have a bidet, but like using the wipes for the extra clean.
Pasta, laundry pods, water and soda pop to last a long while. I have some TP, but since I use the butt wipes and bidet, the tp is more for guests and me leaning up both the front and back. I keep a fair amount of frozen vegies (prefer them to canned) and I always buy my meat in the big packs. I usually keep cleaning supplies, but do need to buy more to restock. Usually dish soap, Lysol, toilet bowl cleaner and furniture spray.
My aide, who comes 3 times a week, has a small coffee pot (2 cups) and coffee here for herself. She supplies that herself.
