What Are Your Comfort Foods?πŸ“πŸ‰πŸπŸ₯žπŸ”πŸ₯ͺ🍟

:) Hi One-Eyed Diva, small northern whites, lima, small browns, black-eyed peas, blacks, kidney, pinto, and whatever I can find because I don't like garbanzos, until I get to nine, and I add lentils.. gotta be nine because it's lucky. yum
Too bad I won't have an opportunity to taste that! I'm not about to cook it, so that's out. BTW..I love garbanzos, especially in salads.

:) .. when baking yeast bread, cut away a chunk of your prepared dough, and toss it in the fridge. Later, even days later, when you want it, add butter or bacon grease to a hot skillet, slice the dough to bread-size thickness and fry it. Very very good..
I'm going to try that. It does sound real good. I think everyone in the family would like it too. Thanks for the info.

.. that's so sad! How about a three-bean soup??
I don't do much cooking but my son regularly makes what he calls his favorite thing...bean soup and sometimes "just beans". He only eats navy beans so uses them for both recipes. The difference is he doesn't put all the vegetables, which he runs through the food processor, in the "just beans", but I like that best. I've come to enjoy it with a little Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. πŸ˜›

I don't eat pork but on the rare occasion when I make chicken, I'll make BBQ chicken. After I stopped eating pork and when I cooked more, I used to make BBQ beef ribs but they were not quite the same. But as we used to say I put a hurtin' on the BBQ pork ribs when I used to cook them. They were so tender and so good.

Second chips for sure.

Pizza. I like to make my own with Trader Joe's premade dough.

Crappy nachos I make myself just in the microwave.

Those fruit gem candies. Can't remember the name. They are often out of them in Bulk at WINCO Foods. Individually wrapped.

I had to break this habit: stopping at grocery outlet to get something out of their freezer after my last weekly work day. I'm usually upset, tired, feeling isolated and down. They usually have some kind of non dairy ice cream. But it's loaded with calories, usually coconut milk, lots of saturated fat. Haven't done it in weeks and weeks. I knew it was bad for me.

Edit to add: pancakes with real maple syrup.

At this point, since I am on a gluten-free diet, anything that has gluten in it would be a great comfort food for me. Especially homemade peanut butter cookies and cream puffs.

I've been doing this diet since mid-May because my son has Celiac disease and he wanted me to see if I felt better without gluten. Most gluten containing foods taste great to me. My diet is healthier, but I don't feel better or worse. I don't eat fake food (gluten-free foods that are made with alternative flours) because I've tried many and I don't like them. Except for ancient grains bread, but only when it's plain toast.
