What are your dearest souvenirs, tchotchkes, keepsakes that you won't let go?

My daughters' baby shoes.. the first leather shoes she was measured for age 18 months...

they're now 48 years old...

There's a little white stuffed animal mouse that has always sat on my Piano Keyboard. We lost 'Mousey' when we moved. I turned the new place upside down and finally found Mousey and returned him to his rightful perch on my Piano.

Phew!

A large pink pearl from my brother and his wife's trip to China, a beautiful Alpaca throw from their trip to Peru, an oil painting from their trip to Bali, etc. The warm memories for me are of keeping their sweet dog for them while they traveled.

I was abou 6 when my Grandad died. I kept his oak walking stick saying "When I'm an old man and I need a stick it will be this one."
I still have it. Don't need it yet though.

When I was about 12 my Dad gave me an AGFA Isollette II film camera that he bought out in Aden when he was there with the RAF. That's what started me off in Photography.
I still have it. It still takes great photos.

I have a pink piggy bank from the Diabetes Foundation Australia from when I lived in Adelaide, SA.
My best g/f brought me a keychain with a mini music box that plays "Sakura", from her visit to Japan.
The square ruby ring that was my mother's, is the most cherished item I have.

My most cherished possession was my expired first passport, which was stolen in 1972 in the Balearic Islands. It had a couple of accordion-style pages filled with stamps and visas—a real collector's item. It was taken along with my valid passport and some other belongings. I was really ticked off.

As I continue to drain the swamp more and more of those keepsakes emerge from the muck!
😉🤭😂

The thing that I find difficult and interesting is that these things only have special meaning to me.

The moment I die they will instantly lose their magic and become stuff.
I feel exactly the same! My treasured things (which I have many) will end up in the landfill.

I have to say my most treasured would be one of my dolls that I got for Christmas as a child. Next would be 3 ceramic lamps my mother made back in the fifties. I use them all now.
